“Devil”, set for a September 17th release, is based on a story by M. Night Shyamalan. It is intended to be the first film of a trilogy entitled The Night Chronicles, which deals with the supernatural in the modern world. Shyamalan, isn’t behind the camera this time, leaving that to relative newcomer John Erick Dowdle.

The plot of the film centers on five people, played by a cast of unknown actors, who are trapped in an elevator and are unable to escape despite the efforts of people attempting to pry open and cut through the elevator doors. It becomes apparent that one of the elevator’s riders is, in fact, the Devil and is harming the others in the elevator in addition to impeding any attempts at outside rescue. The rest of the film’s plot deals with the characters trying to ascertain which of the elevator’s riders is the titular demon and with escaping both the demon and the elevator.
