Okay. This project just keeps getting better and better. I’m like a little kid who gets mommy and daddy’s approval to eat ice cream in bed. Not only is the ‘Mann’ who gave us Crocket and Tubbs and the classic bank heist film, Heat, overseeing this picture. But he picks two of my favorite leading men for the leads: Johnny Depp as John Dillinger and Christian Bale as the Fed hot on his trail.5 more have joined Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. Variety reports that Marion Cotillard, Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Dorff and Jason Clarke have all climbed aboard the 30’s gangster flick.

Tatum, Ribisi, Dorff and Clarke will all become hoods for the Dillinger squad of wise guys. Cotillard will play Dillinger’s girlfriend.

If your blood doesn’t start pumping for a 30’s gangster flick with a cast like that, chances are you don’t have a pulse. John Dillinger is a mythic figure in the underworld of gangsterism. Standing up next to such luminaries as Al Capone and Lucky Luciano, John Dillinger was the most charismatic crook of the era. Shooting begins in Chicago (fitting) on March 10 for Universal Pictures.
