Before the encore presentation of J.J. Abrams’ kick ass new show “Fringe” on Fox last night, an extended 7-minute preview for the upcoming remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still aired. Now I do want to say this before you get to carried away with watching it below. Keanu Reeves is a horrid actor. He is a one facet actor and every role he plays, he plays the same way. With that out of the way, the earth will not stand still for this horrible looking movie.
Check out the trailer below and let me know if you think Keanu is acting any different than in an other of his movies. I would go as far as saying he and Brenden Fraser are up for the worst actors of our time.
The Day the Earth Stood Still will open on December 12th of this year.
Man… you are so full os sh*t it is insane! You “warn” people to not like what they are watching because YOU think Keanu Reeves isn’t a good actor! Soooo… so called know it all blogger, you must be aware that it exists many folks out there that actually admire Keanu Reeves and think he is a fairly good actor who does quite good movies and might enjoy this movie very much! You, closed minded bitch, still babbling your “opinions”. But don’t try to make them appear as if they were unanimity. They are not!
I warned folks that the clip above was full of mediocre acting is all. Keanue Reeves or not, my opinion aside (which is the point of this website, to give opinions,) is not a good actor by any standards. If you like him that is great good for you. I think his acting along with his movies are all the same.
While I agree with AtomicPopcorn concerning Keanu’s acting (sad, happy, angry, depressed: all the faces are always the same), I don’t agree that this movie will be bad or mediocre. Keanu has made some really action packed movies that I’ve enjoyed. Like most actors not all of his movies have been winners, but then again if you’re a true Keanu fan that won’t really matter. As for “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, while I appreciate your warning neither I nor anyone else will really be able to tell just how good or bad this movie is until we’ve actually watched it.

The escape sequence could have been out of the X Files TV show.
‘Save The Environment’ message of the film is off-putting. I don’t want to be preached to at the movies.

I agree that the movie does not look THAT bad. I have also found Reeves acting quiet vacuous in all his films, but strangely his films have been enjoyable. Would, at least, catch this on DVD.

I haven’t watched the movie yet, but I’ve watched the trailer several times. I love Keanu Reeves, but I cannot tell a lie. Keanu Reeves, while nice to look at, cannot act. I think his best work was in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure
. I know, I know! That’s not really saying much, but true Keanu and sci-fi fans will brave the bad acting and hopefully we won’t be too disappointed.
I would like to ask a favor of whoever may have actually watched this movie. Keanu’s acting aside, how was it in regards to special effects and did the other actors do a good job? I love Keanu, but I’m not willing to spend almost $8.00 to go to a movie where everything will suck big time. I don’t want to spend the money, then walk out about 15 minutes into it, which I’ve done before. Was the worst part of this movie only Keanu or do you consider this to be an overall loss? Everyone’s opinion would be welcome. Thanks!!!
I would have to say the FX were okay. Not at good as I had hoped. I would definitely save your cash overall.
Thanks!! You seem to be in agreement with lots of family members and friends that have watched it. They were pretty disappointed in the movie. I’m glad I didn’t waste my money.
By the way are there any good sci-fi movies that are out or will be coming out that you’d recommend for me? I’d appreciate your input.
Do a Google search for Eden Log. I think it looks kind of cool. Apart from being in French it looks pretty solid. As for others, I haven’t found a solid Sci-Fi flick since Serenity to be honest. Unless I am forgetting something.
