A Comedian Joins Red Dawn

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, perhaps most notable for playing The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation, is joining the cast of the Red Dawn remake.

Variety got the scoop on Morgan’s role in the film, which seems somewhat unnecessary:

“‘Red Dawn’ follows a group of teenagers who band together to fight back when their home town is invaded by an joint force of Chinese and Russian soldiers. Morgan will play the leader of the U.S. Special Forces team who discovers the teens’ stronghold while behind enemy lines.”

The film is being directed by talented stunt coordinator and unproven film helmer Dan Bradley, from a script by The Last House on the Left scribe Carl Ellsworth.

The film is scheduled for release on September 24th, 2010.
