Activision Trademarks Call of Duty Film Rights

cod-wawActivision, the company behind some great videogame franchises including Call of Duty recently trademarked that property for future film rights.

This is unexpected — Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War are two immensely popular games for the current generation of videogame systems, and it’d be a missed opportunity on Activision’s part not to seek a Hollywood outlet for their moneymakers.

This doesn’t mean that we’ll be seeing a Call of Duty movie anytime soon, nor does it mean a script is even being produced. But it’s likely that Activision has at least talked briefly with some studios about the possibilities of a project being developed. I don’t really know — it seems like Black Hawk Down tread on this territory years ago.

What do you think? Do you need a Call of Duty movie? Should it feature Nazi zombies? Let us know in the comments, and keep your eyes peeled to AtomicPopcorn.net for the rest of your movie needs.

Call it Modern Warfare and base it around those games. At least that's what I'd do. Best FPS there is right now.
