Avatar Midnight Screening Tickets are Hot Off the Presses

I feel like Avatar Day was only a few days ago (it was), and already midnight showings for Avatar on the morning of December 18th are selling tickets at AMC theaters, over four months away from the release of the film.

Considering the relatively lukewarm reception that Avatar Day had — I’m basing this on the fact that if I mentioned it to anyone I encountered around my relatively informed college campus, I was rewarded with blank stares — this seems excessive.

Executive VP of movietickets.com Joel Cohen doesn’t think so: “tickets have already been sold really speaks to the tremendous buzz the film has already created and the power of James Cameron at the box office.” They’re obviously looking for another box office grand slam like The Dark Knight, and I’ve yet to be convinced that Cameron’s film will be it.
