Beatrice Arthur, best known for her work in hits such as Maude and The Golden Girls has passed on yesterday at the age of 86. The famed actress died of cancer at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family. Not only was she an actress and a comedian but a singer as well, spanning out through mediums such as film, television and even swooping her way onto Broadway. She first started to hit the highest point of her career when she appeared in All In The Family as Edith Bunker’s liberal cousin. She became such a big hit during her time on the show that Beatrice eventually got her own show, Maude, which she eventually won an Emmy for.
Next on the list for her a few years later was Golden Girls which was centered around three retired women and the mother of Arthur’s character who all lived in a Miami apartment. After Beatrice left the show in 1992, she has made cameo appearances on several shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm (and even a voice segment for an episode of Futurama). She is survived by her two songs and two grand daughters.
