Bruno: NC-17?

Bruno is NC-17

Bruno is NC-17

Everyone’s man-thong wearing giant, Sacha Baron Cohen, just got a rude awakening for the comedian’s latest film, Bruno. Apparently the MPAA did not find the laughs too appropriate for audiences when they slapped the dreaded NC-17 rating. Racy scenes were reported to seal the deal for the rating, including of one which supposedly shows the actor taking part in anal sex with another male.

Despite the black mark on the film, the twenty minutes of footage shown at the South By Southwest festival had everyone begging for more. With the quickly spreading word of mouth, and with the great legion of fans that fell for Cohen’s antics in his previous film Borat, Universal will be scrambling about to make sure that they can crank down the rating to R.

The upcoming Cohen film follows the journey of a homosexual Austrian man going after his boyfriend who broke up with him after the short adoption of obtaining a third world baby. The film is scheduled for release on July 10th of this year.

  1. I honestly think this looks terrible. I also will go on the record as stating I watched maybe 10 minutes of Borat before turning it off. Its trash, not so much for him alone but for all the morons in the country that responded the way they did. I also lived down the road from the drivers ed guy!!
All in all, its shock “movies” just like Marylin Manson is “shock” music. He faded away, so will Cohen.

I do believe that you are incorrect. Marylin Manson was “shock music” because of what he, and he alone, says and does; Cohen’s Borat was a “shock movie” since, as Borat, he did outrageous things but the the Americans he interviewed had the most unacceptable responses and did/said the most unacceptable things found in that film. I don’t think these two are even compareable, and I don’t believe Cohen will fade away since he’s been doing his characters (Borat, Ali G, and Bruno) since 2000 and in the mean time has established himself in other roles as a very versitile actor.

Err Cohen may not necessarily fade away because he doesn’t run the same character into the ground. Borat had some funny parts in it and the movie was making a stand against P.C.
