Bryan Singer Returns to ‘X-Men’

aabryanDirector Bryan Singer is returning to the X-Men franchise to helm the next title in the series, X-Men: First Class.

Singer had been considering the project since last summer, and told Daily Variety that he was hesitant to go back to the franchise until he had a storyline that could stand on its own. And it appears he’s found that.

Singer wrote a detailed treatment for the film, which Twentieth Century Fox quickly approved. The studio signed Singer onto the project, hired Jamie Moss to write the screenplay, and are planning on moving forward with X-Men: First Class as soon as possible.

According to Singer, the new film will follow Xavier and Magneto’s founding of the school, and show where their relationship went wrong. Additionally, audiences can expect several new mutants and an awesome villain. Said the director, “I put myself in the fan’s position, and I think this story is something I would want to see, and so will they.”

Singer is also attached to direct Battlestar Galactica, and a remake of Excalibur.
