Cary Fukunaga to Film Jane Eyre

jane-eyreCary Fukunaga, the helmer of the reportedly terrific Sin Nombre, has signed on to adapt the classic Charlotte Brontë novel Jane Eyre for the UK Ruby Films.

The script has been written by popular British playwright Moira Buffini, and was one of the best unproduced UK screenplays of last year according to the 2008 Brit List (equivalent to the United States’ Black List of unproduced screenplays).

Buffini’s version of the story is said to emphasize “the gothic elements of the classic 19th century story about a governess who falls in love with her surly employer who has a dark secret.”

I’m unfamiliar with Fukunaga and Sin Nombre, but this trailer indicates that the man has the talent to adapt a story like Jane Eyre with style and reverence. What do you think? Let us know in the comments and keep your eyes on AtomicPopcorn.net for all your movie news!

Je suis certaine que son ( Cary Fukunaga) grand sens de l'esthétisme et son art de photographier, feront de cet immense classique un véritable chef d'oeuvre.
