HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 8, 2011) – Paramount Pictures and Twitter jointly announced today sneak preview showings of the movie SUPER 8 for 1-day only on Thursday, June 9th, in advance of the film’s scheduled nationwide release on Friday, June 10th. To promote the sneak previews, the companies have designated the hashtag #Super8Secret, which Paramount has also sponsored as a Promoted Trend, allowing Twitter’s global user base a direct link to buy tickets to the advanced previews. At select, participating theatres in the United States, Super 8 Sneak Preview moviegoers will be treated to a free popcorn (with a concession purchase) at each sneak preview show. Hosting movie sneak previews marks a first for Twitter. This promotion continues a key partnership between Paramount and Twitter on SUPER 8. The duo joined forces in March for the movie’s exclusive trailer premiere via Twitter, another exciting first for the site.

SUPER 8, from writer/director J.J. Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg, will open exclusively tomorrow, June 9th, on over 300 screens nationwide, featuring all 239 IMAX playdates in the U.S. and Canada. SUPER 8 is an Amblin Entertainment / Bad Robot production, directed by Abrams from his original script and produced by Steven Spielberg, Abrams and Bryan Burk. The film stars Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Joel Courtney, Gabriel Basso, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills. The movie takes place in the summer of 1979, where a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

We’ve got 5 “admit two” passes to the showing of YELLOWBRICKROAD at AMC Theaters “Bloody Disgusting Selects” film fest at AMC White Marsh.  Every month there’ll be a new horror movie on offer each Wednesday and Friday night.  This month?  A film festival favorite that’s “a return to the slow burn, character driven horror thrillers of the 1970s”:

In the Fall of 1940, the entire population of Friar, New Hampshire—all 572 of them—abandoned their homes, their possessions and their lives and walked up an ancient trail, never to be seen alive again. Their fates remained a mystery for over seventy years, until a team of researchers discover the trailhead and attempt to retrace the path the doomed citizens of Friar took. A few among them believe they will find something terrible in the forest. But it is the forest that will find something terrible in them. “YELLOWBRICKROAD” was an official Slamdance selection, and played at The Atlanta Film Festival and Screamfest to critical and audience acclaim, and won best feature at the New York Horror Film Festival.

Sounds like an interesting mashup of Blair Witch Project and Evil Dead.  Groovy!

Breaking up can be a bitch, but trying to reconcile in a city full of walking dead can really add complications to an already difficult relationship.   Filmmakers Marvin Kren  and Benjamin Hessler have given us Germany’s first foray into the Zombie genre, RAMMBOCK, an unlikely tale of love, terror and survival set against the dystopic backdrop of a zombie-infested Berlin.

Heartbroken and clueless, Michael (Michael Fuith) arrives in Berlin to win back the affections of brooding ex-girlfriend Gabi (Anka Graczyk).  But he’s in for a little disappointment: she’s not home and the city is rapidly overrun by bloodthirsty hordes of zombiefied Berliners.  His only companion?  The plucky Harper (Theo Trebs, “The White Ribbon”), a teenage plumber’s apprentice at work in the apartment complex.  From their overnight redoubt in Gabi’s bedroom, the unlikely duo must escape the infested  building, outwit the undead and find her…before it’s too late.  Rammbock is hide and seek…with zombies!

Produced by Melanie Berke and Sigrid Hoerner, written by Benjamin Hessler and directed by Marvin Kren, this Fantastic Fest favorite marks the first German foray into the zombie genre. Kren’s tense, action packed feature follows a group of strangers who try to fight off hordes of zombies in a Berlin apartment complex.
