Comic Con 2009: Flynn’s Arcade

What was next to Iron Man 2 at Comic Con this year you ask? Was it the awesomeness of Avatar? Nope. How about Depp’s appearance at the Alice in Wonderland ordeal? Slightly. Even the surprise of the show, the Kick-Ass footage? Close, but no cigar. There was one place everyone wanted to be, and that’s Flynn’s Arcade. Yes, that’s right Disney took a vacated spot downtown and turned it into the arcade from Disney’s 1982 sci-fi flick Tron. Some would argue that it was the best thing at the convention and they might be right. What would happen is that you’re allowed to enter and play a good wealth of arcade hits from the 80’s for free, complete with Space Paranoids and the actual Tron game.  After fifteen minutes of play time, the lights and neon signs flicker, the Tron game slides away and the walls behind it open up, allowing everyone to waltz into a dark abyss. What follows is concept art and this…

That’s right. The Light Cycle was there for everyone to admire as it was on a turntable display. As we exited, the fine people hosting the event handed out Flynn’s Arcade and Flynn Lives t-shirts, in addition to an exclusive Tron Legcay poster. Here are what the shirts look like:

In addition, the Tron Legacy trailer can be viewed here. I still want a Light Cycle and suit.
