Crawford, maybe Cyrus, get Footloose
Chace Crawford, one of the pretty boys from the hit TV show Gossip Girl, is ready to kick off his Sunday shoes in the remake of the 1984 flick Footloose. Swirling around for a long while, High School Musical star Zac Efron was in talks for the role but ultimately leaped out, leaving it wide open for another up and comer to take center stage. Then again, for those of you who are familiar with director and sometimes producer Kenny Ortega would realize that he’s got directing ties in High School Musical and Gossip Girl, so it was merely a matter of who was more available for the male lead role.
The original centered around a young man named Ren McCormack played by newcomer-at-the-time Kevin Bacon at the time who jumped into a new town that banned all forms of dance & music who ends up making a change at that. Obviously this film will take place with the same premise in a more modernized setting, as if they’d want to recreate the eighties with this, and have quite a few rising starlets who are trying to reach for the female role of Ariel Moore. Currently Hannah Montana star and singer Miley Cyrus is in the lead for the slot, but other actresses such as Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Julianne Hough. This will be put up with the help of Paramount Pictures and Dylan Sellers Productions.
