Delay of Game for Bioshock

Verbinski

Another upcoming flop or a surprising hit to video game adaptations?

Universal skidded the breaks right now for the upcoming Gore Verbinski’s upcoming video game adaptation on the popular Bioshock. The sci-fi based game got put on hold once the pre-production accumulated to a supposed $160 million budget while prepping up in Los Angeles. Don’t you fret, for those of you who actually are looking forward to the film, it will not end up diving into the deep recesses of a drawer. Verbinski and Universal are in talks of fixing up the budget and possibly moving the filming over to London in order to cut costs.

The story takes place in the underwater city Rapture, where a pilot crash-lands near a secret entrance and becomes involved in a power struggle. John Logan is penning the script, no word yet on who exactly is set for the lead role but the film is put down for a 2010 release date.
