Destination Continues Its Stride

final_destination_pic06For the second week in a row, Warner Bros Pictures horror flick The Final Destination beats up the competition to stay on top during this past Labor Day weekend. Going up against three other films, audiences proved that they still crave their dose of absolute terror. The fourth installment of the franchise took in 12.3 million. The film barely tip-toed away from the Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds which made 11.6 million.

The Sandra Bullock romantic comedy All About Steve struggles along with the rest of the newly released films to find their audience. Bringing in 11.2 million, her earlier summer release The Proposal conjured up 33.6 million on its opening weekend alone, not showing much promise for the future draw of her recent film. Gamer, starring Gerard Butler, suffered the same fate only bringing in 9.1 million with Mike Judge’s new comedy Extract barely bringing in 4.3 million.

Rob Zombie’s newest horror flick Halloween II (H2) is still managing to scare up the box office draw, surpassing its budget and putting a little change in its pocket with 25 million overall its 15 million budget. Julie & Julia are following suit, making a great 78 million which completely makes up for its 40 million dollar budget. Honorable mention of possible failure goes to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra who still has 35 million to go before it finally makes back its budget, but will most likely get it back from DVD/Blu-Ray sales at this point. Here’s the weekend results below:
