If you’ve read a handful of articles by me, you’ll by now know that I typically don’t care too much for screen adaptations of books I’ve read. Well, I think there may soon be a second exception to this (the first being Fight Club).
This April will bring to the screen an adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Diary of a Wimpy Kid follows Greg Heffley, a scrawny, nerdy middle-schooler, as he documents the trials and tribulations of middle school. I’ve only read the first of the books in the series, but it was pretty funny, and the recently released trailer for the film looks like it will do a commendable job of translating that humor to the screen.
If the two minutes of the trailer are a good indicator, Diary of a Wimpy Kid will be an entertaining film for the whole family, but particularly those who have already gone through middle school, regardless of whether you were the cool kid or the geek.
