In a not-so-surprising turn of events over this past Easter weekend, Hannah Montana The Movie reigned over the box office as the blonde wig wearing Miley Cyrus’ movie debut scored a cool $34 Million. The tween superstar’s film proved that little girls can get their way to bring mommy and daddy to the theaters in order to see their favorite at-the-moment Disney idol. If anything, the only real competition of the weekend was Fast & Furious 4, starring Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, which still remains the king of the highest box office opening weekend so far this year. Trailing it in at second with a slight drop, there’s still some gas in the tank left to burn before the interest of this film fades off (had to do that one).
Not forgetting other adult-orientated films, Observe and Report starring funny leading man Seth Rogen debuted on the charts in third, already almost completely making its bank in its domestic gross (production budget estimated to be $18 million). Despite the tween girls flooding to the theatres to see Ms. Cyrus, there were still a fair amount of adults who decided to avoid the Disney milking and watch the disgusting kiss shared between co-star Anna Faris with Seth Rogen.
Speaking of avoiding, a majority of Americans decided to almost completely ignore the 20th Century Fox almost-franchise, Dragonball Evolution. As if Fox didn’t have it bad already with the controversy over the leaked Wolverine movie footage, Rothman and company got another swift kick as their start up anime franchise off of the popular Dragonball Z series could not even gain the energy to Kame-hame-ha its way to higher sales. Everyone else on the charts remains steady, but you can take a look at that for yourself down below.

Well. Disney didnt really beat anime. Its just that the anime fans DID NOT want to see a horrible remake of one of the most popular shows ever. I am a huge anime fan, and i love dragonball Z but to be honest i didnt want to see it because it looked horrible. If they made it look better, and really be better in general then more people would have seen it. Plus that isnt the only anime movie ever. So “hannah” didnt really beat anime. Anime can top her anytime.
But i get your point on the ratings.
hi hannah
