Efron’s Going To The Clouds

Will he hold up after his High School Musical stint?

Out of the many actors in the tween loved High School Musical flicks, Zac Efron is one of very few that seems to be actually making a decent career for himself. The upcoming 17 Again star is reported to be in talks with the director of the same film (Burr Steers) to play in novel adaptation of The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. Centering on a caretaker at a cemetery who manages to have weekly meetings with a younger brother whose accidental death he feels was his fault, the film seems to present more of a challenge to the mainly comedy focused young actor.

Penned by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge!), Burr Steers at the time will be polishing the script while Efron sits down at the negotiating table. Efron will continue to sit patiently and wait while not only on this upcoming film but with the fate of him being part of Paramount’s Footloose remake. The rumor mill has been swirling it up, whispers of him being already locked in for the lead role to others saying that he’s dropped out for good, regardless Warner Bros set up their release date for the former Kevin Bacon starred film for 2010. You can see Efron in theaters this year with 17 Again opening on April 17th following up with a late year release of the indie flick Me and Orson Welles.
