Flash Forward 1.6: “Scary Monsters and Super Creeps”

flash-forwardThis week’s episode starts with none other than Simon, the man claiming to be responsible for the flash forwards in episode 4. He is on a train heading straight for L.A., on his way to catch up with and surprise Lloyd.

Back at the hospital in L.A., Janice is brought into the ER with a gunshot wound from the attack on her at the end of last week’s episode. Olivia recognizes her and performs emergency surgery to save Janice’s life.

After surgery Olivia calls Mark but she can’t reach him. She also re-reads the anonymous text about Mark drinking in his flash forward.

Mark, Demetri and Wedek show up at the hospital to see Janice, and Mark finds Olivia who asks her to tell the agents about Janice’s condition. After the emergency surgery, Janice is in stable condition and recovering.

Wedek tells Demetri to go rest but he refuses and, with another agent pursues the investigation regarding their attackers. They head to the morgue to check out the perps Janice killed in the attack. When he turns a blacklight on one of the dead suspects, he spots a blue hand marked in UV-reactive ink. This connects them to Mark’s flash forward. The two head for another clue on Baltimore Street in L.A.

Mark and Wedek speak about Janice in the hospital. Wedek apologizes for coming down hard on Mark in D.C., trying to move past the incident and focus on the investigation.

Janice comes into the hospital, looks like she will be all right.

Mark goes Halloweening with his daughter in the neighborhood and again sees a kangaroo hopping through the neighborhood. this is the second time Mark has seen a kangaroo around.

Dillon wanders out of the hospital and gets on a bus to Olivia and Mark’s home.

While trick or treating, Mark sees men walking around wearing the same masks and wearing backpacks as in his flash forward. He chases them through the neighborhood and follows one into a graveyard, pistol drawn. Mark manages to catch him but it ends up being a teenager with eggs and toilet paper on Halloween night. Hardly a criminal.

Demetri finds a blue hand with three fingers on a stop sign at Baltimore Street. They follow the direction and find yet another blue hand and continue the search.

When Dillon shows up at Mark’s house, Lloyd shows up later to find him. We find that Dillon’s flash forward takes place in Mark’s kitchen. When Lloyd arrives at the house in search of Dillon, he recognizes the living room when he walks in. Olivia walks in shortly thereafter and the room is quickly painted a lovely color of awkward.

Mark discovers that Lloyd must have been the man Olivia saw in her flash forward, and tells him to leave and never come back.

Meanwhile, Demetri and the other agent follow the signs to a house where they find blood on the floor and walls. They find also come across three dead bodies whose hands are painted blue.

In the hospital, Janice tells Wedek that the doctors told her because of the gunshot wound she may never be able to bear a child, which is contradictory to her flash forward.

At the Benford household, Olivia and Mark have an argument about Lloyd and her flash forward. She confronts him about hiding something from her, and he eventually comes clean and tells her that he was drinking in his flash forward. Olivia feels like they have lost the trust in their relationship and leaves the room.

In the house where Demetri and other other agent found the bodies, he finds an ID for a man named Rutherford, the name of a case they were working in his flash forward.

At the end of the episode, Lloyd gets into his car and Simon is waiting for him in the back seat. Apparently they conducted an experiment that caused the flash forward, and Lloyd mentions that he feels responsible for causing some 20 million deaths before driving away with Simon.

And so the edge-of-your-seat suspense continues until next week.
