Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was a stunning film in terms of tone and aesthetics, especially when compared to the early films in the series.
However, not being a die hard fan of the books, I wasn’t able to spot the (apparently abundant) differences between the film and the book.
However, the British Board of Film Certification has released a list of deleted scenes that will appear on the DVD when it is released in December — just over six and a half minutes of unseen footage that may or may not overlap with excised scenes from the novel.
For those interested, another feature on the DVD will be a mini-documentary about the creation of a Harry Potter-themed amusement park in Orlando, FL.
The list of deleted scenes is as follows:
00:00:26:17 (”HARRY AND HERMIONE WALK THROUGH HOGWARTS HALL” (SC. 85))
00:01:00:01 (”HARRY AND HERMIONE DISCUSS MARAUDER’S MAP” (SC. 95))
00:01:04:08 (”HARRY
RON & HERMIONE DISCUSS THE VANISHING CABINET” (SC. 118-119))
00:00:38:07 (”HARRY AND DUMBLEDORE ARRIVE AT CAVE ENTRANCE” (SC. 122))
00:00:19:07 (”HARRY AND DUMBLEDORE LEAVE CAVE” (SC. 124))
00:01:39:22 (”CLOUDS GATHER OVER HOGWARTS AS FLITWICK CONDUCTS CHOIR” (SC. 125-129))
00:00:40:08 (”HARRY JOINS RON
HERMIONE AND GINNY IN THE COMMON ROOM” (SC. 140))
00:00:42:16 (”HARRY AND HERMIONE DISCUSS RON AT ASTRONOMY TOWER” (SC. 142))

Nice scenes, however, sadly all of them are useless scenes that were not needed for the film, but again when you look at the full movie allot of scenes that were needed and useless made it in or were changed for some stupid reason. Some scenes I wish were deleted scenes that we could watch were: Morfin Gaunt memory, Hokey the house elf, Voldemort asking for a job at Hogwarts, DD chewing out the Dursleys, also a lot (like 10 minutes) were disucussion in the scene about horcruxes, Harry and DD were supposed to really hit hard on his role in the war and final battle which was downplayed unfairely and could present problems throughout the DH films.
