Harry Potter Gets a Double Dip

Having never read a single Harry Potter adventure, I enjoyed the most recent film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Although meandering and entirely an interim between Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows, its visual aesthetic was enough to keep me invested and interested in the final episode(s) of the saga.

With that in mind, I can tell along with the rest of the world that the final two movies are going to cause an all-out blitz in the media, and for good reason — this series is a decade-plus-long endeavour, and when it comes to an end, it will likely leave as much of a legacy as J.K. Rowling’s books have.

This is why the news of extended DVD (and quite likely, Blu-ray) releases for all the Harry Potter films, as reported by Rope of Silicon, is unsurprising. Warner Home Video has let slip that “Although we’ve not announced [it yet], all Harry Potter films are being planned to get special upcoming releases!”

Unlike most double dips, this is one I welcome: fantasy films often deserve more breathing room than they’re allotted, and the Harry Potter series is definitely one that will be rewarding to revisit in its entirety once the final picture is completed.
