Harry Potter pushed to July 09

Posted by Matthew On August - 15 - 2008

Well this sucks a big fattie if you ask me. I was truly excited for the film to hit us in November. Variety is reporting that due to the writers strike and the lack of films for next summer lined up, they wanted folks to head to the theater to see something.

Personally I think, your lack of planning does not constitute a lack of pleasure on my part. Fix it Warner Brothers!

Warner Brothers announced today that “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will not be released until Summer 2009. Are you freaking kidding me? It previously had a release date set for November 18, 2008.

A Long-winded explanation behind the move can be read here: MarketWatch: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” Moves to Summer 2009

In summary, Warner Brothers thinks the summer is a better time for this type of family release (re: it will make more money). They also attempt to shift some blame on repercussions from the writer’s strike.

So what does this mean for the next film? Are we going to have two Harry’s in one year? That wouldn’t be all to bad.

They pushed it ONE YEAR! That’s horrible! But the prospect of seeing two Potters in one year is rather exciting. But I don’t think that will happen.
