The disappointment continues.
The mediocrity of Heroes continues. The episode’s bright point was Mohinder’s plot arc. It feels really well put together, and it was nice to see the Haiti back.
Also, Mohinder, Matt and Mr. Bennet working together is a really cool idea, and on this part, I’ve nothing to complain about. Can’t wait to see what they’re up to. Unfortunately, this and Hiro’s are the only storyline that have some kind of a continuation to it. Now, Hiro’s storyline was funny, and really entertaining. I was afraid that David Anders might get an exit ticket so soon, but luckily, Kensei seems to be a “hero” too after all.
Unfortunately, the other stories are simply not as great.
Angela Petrelli’s death note seemed odd, because she received it the last episode. And Kaito was punctual about his death date, yet Angela didn’t die? What? They got the note at the same time!
Anyhow, she almost dies. But oh god, what a cheesy effect! Super slow mo, horrible acting and effects. It was laughable, not shocking, or even surprising.
Peter’s character has been watered down. He doesn’t remember anything, so now, he’s a thief to get his memories back from the gang leader, who happens to have them.
It’s funny, that the way Peter fought off a few bad guys was more spectacular than his fight with Sylar. Although, the CGI was very poor, and the fistfights are still laughable.
Alejandro and Maya are really bloody useless, they’re fillers like in the first episode, and trust me, there are better ways to spend screen time. The bottom of the barrel was, to me, every scene Claire was in. It brought the whole episode down. It all seemed to be really just a rehash from everything we already know “You can’t tell!” “Lay low!” “Genes are changing!” And the conclusion was awful. With Claire cutting her pinky toe, and West seeing it… well, was that meant to be like, a cliffhanger? It wasn’t! It was predictable, and made no sense. There were much better cliffhangers within the episode. But it’s not just Claire’s storyline and the crappy cliffhanger. It’s how the whole show is constructed. You have all these characters, and the writers make it damn sure, that you have to show them every episode, which cancels out plot development and action. In fact, the only episode that had a very narrow focus, turned out to be the best(Company Man).
The dialog was corny, especially when the Irish girl realized Peter could heal himself. At least, there should have been an “oh my god!” or at least, she could have stepped back! But no. She seemed like it’s perfectly normal.
Also, there wasn’t really any twists in the premiere, I thought the writers were saving the good stuff. But this one didn’t have any either. Surely, Kensei’s ability wasn’t foreseen, but I’m thinking of something more of a game changer. There was none here.
Overall, this episode was a slight step up from the previous one, but still remains ALOT to be desired.
