Anyone who has ever read and loved the book as dearly as some of us do can testify... yes, the 80's film version was a great movie, but a proper film adaptation of the book is long in coming. So get off your high horse about the sanctity of a movie that didn't quite do justice to a nearly holy piece of literature and find yourself a copy of the book... then we'll talk again.
