In every movie I know of, there's always a part or a few parts that I would want to skip over cause they just aren't interesting compared to the rest of the movie. In HTTYD, there were no parts like that. I was enthralled for the whole movie, all 5 times and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD/Blue-ray.@jonathan: I agree that the voices didn't quite fit in context, but look at the personalities of the kids and how much they resemble american teens. If they had had scottish accents, there wouldn't have been as much of a connection between the characters and the audience. Especially with Hiccup, since he's supposed to be the different, completely ordinary one. Also, I absolutely love how Hiccup uses the endearing words with Toothless. I speak like that too, saying "bud" and such, and it made me feel more connected to Hiccup. As for Toothless seeming more female than male, look at your average dog. It's really hard to tell without looking at the under-parts if it's a male or female, even when they're playing or interacting with people they know and don't know. And if they had said Toothless was a girl, I'd be worried about the weird HiccupxToothless coupling and such that would come out of it.I have one or two very minor, nit-picky complaints about the movie, but overall, it's the best movie I've ever seen and it's so real! I now wish I could have a dragon, even if it meant losing a leg at some point. Never gonna happen, but I can dream.

Incredible movie! The father with a Scottish dialect but the son Hiccup didn't have one, the kids spoke with a American dialects as well. When Hiccup used the word "Bud" and "Baby" to Toothless it seemed out of context. Wished they sounded Norwegian or even Viking-ish. Toothless was called a male but seemed more female.

Liked the movie didn’t care for the voice acting, sounded too American-ized. I thought he was cold or tired, and asked if he was OK. He really didn't answer, but after the movie was over, he told me that a few times the dragons scared him---"my heart was pounding!" Must have been pretty realistic looking for him to have that reaction. He even told me that he thought it was too scary for his 5-year-old sister.I found the graphics to be outstanding. The storyline kept you wondering what was going to happen next---and it was just long enough. My nephew never budged from his seat---and he usually loses focus quickly.Very entertaining.

Saw this with my not-quite 7-year-old nephew. The amount of detail in the visuals is amazing, like the Viking ships, catapults, even the body hair on the characters' arms... as cartoony as it is it's also highly realistic.
I thought about doing a review for moonwolves but couldnt muster up much more than jawgaping awe, and after reading your very eloquent review I'm glad I abstained. Like I commented in the recroom, these dragons totally crap all over Beowulf. And all over Avatar too, I was much more thrilled by this than by anything Cameron gave us.

I saw it this afternoon in IMAX3D, and it is so amazing and spectacular, I absolutely loved every frame of it!!
