I’m quite surprised he responded like this. First of all, Jack doesn’t look like he did 20 years when he played the part. Secondly, as was stated in this blog, the Joker isn’t *his* part. He wasn’t the first to play him and he didn’t invent the thing. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t play it exactly the same way he did the first time around, and it just won’t work in the Begins continuity. This new franchise isn’t about the villains– for the first time, it’s *finally* about Batman. We don’t need a Joker that will steal the stage from Batman. We need one that can be a true nemesis to him, so that both characters are well-developed and believable. And as much as I *love* the ’89 film, the reason Joker isn’t really scary is because he’s on screen too long. The *idea* of the Joker is much, much scarier than he is.

Jack can go to hell. His performance and this interview prove that he really had no idea what the Joker character was all about. From everything I have seen with Ledger and interviews with Christopher Nolan they’ve nailed it this time. I’ve also got some top secret info from a super sexy secret source (that I will not be posting here) that embiggens my expectations even further. Y’all will forget about Jack altogether after seeing this.

I have to agree I mean I can understand why he would be upset, but that role wasn’t made for him. I’m looking forward to seeing who else might play the Joker and what they can bring to the part.
