James Marsh Reveals Vatican Tapes

vaticanAfter winning last year’s Oscar for Best Documentary, director James Marsh is moving onto feature films with The Vatican Tapes.

The film is a supernatural thriller (of course it is, everything is these days) that follows the events set in motion when a tape showing a botched exorcism by the Vatican is leaked. Rather than focusing on the tapes of the exorcism itself, The Vatican Tapes will center on what happens after the tapes get out.

The Vatican Tapes comes from an idea thought up by Chris Morgan and Chris Borrelli, and was then turned into a screenplay by Borrelli. It will also be the first non-documentary to Marsh’s directing credits.

Marsh’s documentaries have won the director eight different awards, as well as six other nominations. If he can transition his skill as a director from filming true life events to fiction,  The Vatican Tapes could shape up to be a pretty good work.
