Jolie Joins Ridley For Gucci?

angelina_jolie_wallpaper_1024x768I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Ridley Scott is overextending himself, and with every new report of an upcoming project for the director/producer, I’m less inclined to believe it’ll get off the ground with his name attached to it.

The latest is that Scott has been in talks with Angelina Jolie to star in Gucci, a murder-drama about the lavish existence of the Gucci fashion family. The film, which will hopefully be pushed into production by Fox 2000 by 2010, would see Jolie starring as Patrizia Reggiano who was “sentenced to 29 years in jail for plotting the murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci.”

The studio is currently hiring for a rewrite on the script. A quick glance at the Gucci family reveals a lot of material for a film — there have been multiple betrayals, deceptions, and power struggles within the family, particularly in the 1970s and 80s.

Scott is reportedly looking at his pal Leonardo DiCaprio to play Maurizio Gucci.

If this does happen, it’ll likely be Scott’s film to immediately follow Robin Hood.

I'm really hoping this film gets made because I think it would truely be an interesting story. Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio would be interesting to see cast though I was a little surprised at first to hear of DiCaprio playing Gucci but he's so good in everything he's done he'll definetly nail it.
