Live-Action/CGI Hybrid Yogi Bear Trailer

Yahoo! Movies has the first trailer, as well as a poster, for the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid big screen adaptation of Yogi Bear. Check it out below the jump:

You know the idea: Yogi (Dan Ackroyd) and Boo-Boo (Justin Timberlake) are just two bears living in Jellystone National Park who love to pic-a-nic while running from Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh). The cartoon is a classic, and I’m sure many of us are not too happy with this update. Well, it’s happening so let’s hope it turns out well.

The look of the bears is great – they aren’t the original hand-drawn animations, obviously, but the CGI models are very good. The voices also sound spot-on. Dan Ackroyd has Yogi’s voice almost perfect and Justin Timberlake’s Boo-Boo is surprisingly close to the original. Of course, the story is nothing new. In the film, Mayor Brown (Andrew Daly) decides to shut down the park and Yogi, Boo-Boo, and Ranger Smith must save it.

I hope that this can at least be a charming, funny family film that can introduce a new generation to these classic characters without sacrificing all the heart that makes the original so great.

What do you think? Are you excited for this? Is this a good way to introduce little kids to the original Yogi Bear?

Yogi Bear has a pic-a-nic December 17th.
