Madea’s Big Happy Family Restaurant Wars: support our local chefs!

If you’re a fan of Tyler Perry, Madea or Restaurant Wars, here’s a little something that should get you salivating. To promote the release of Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family, Lionsgate has partnered with Real Men Charities, Inc. for a Restaurant Wars cookoff showdown.

From Lionsgate:

In Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family, three generations of family and friends come together and live life at the dinner table. To commemorate the family dynamic and the living spaces at home and beyond where we celebrate our lives together, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family is hosting a Restaurant Wars promotion in 23 markets across the country. Madea fans will vote for their favorite participating local restaurants – their homes away from home where family and friends gather over great food to mark life’s many occasions.

Since 2003 our Real Men Cook with Kids® programming has focused on introducing fresh fruits and vegetables to youth in an attempt to fight childhood obesity. Throughout the year our Real Men delight families and communities by demonstrating healthy cooking at health fairs, hospitals and community events as well as our Annual Real Men Cook event on Fathers Day. Real Men Charities is also a proud supporter of First Lady Michelle Obama’s LET’S MOVE! campaign to promote healthy lifestyles and the sponsor of Real Men Cook® Father’s Day celebrations.

Our local restaurants that will be competing are DC favorites Soul Vegetarian Exodus and Oohhs and Aahhs Soul Food, both in the U Street/Shaw area. So show ‘em some love and get out and vote!

What’s in it for you? Well, one voter will be chosen at random for a $500 gift certificate to throw “the family feast of a lifetime”. The contest runs ’til Friday, April 22, 2011, the release date of the film.
