- Thor among others take a breather.
Thor, among a few more films on the now Marvel backburner, will be delayed by a year to June 17, 2011. With the sudden swing of Marvel movies being pushed in all sorts of directions, Thor is not the only superhero getting the slideback treatment.
The First Avenger: Captain America has been pushed smaller than others from May 6th to July 22, 2011. Another one to jump back is The Avengers, going all the way from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012. The only film to not have any form of a real hiccup with its release date is Iron Man, still slated to be shown off at theatres nationwide on May 7th, 2010.
With the new changes taking effect, especially key for films like Thor, the pre-production setup with be fairly easier for people like Kenneth Branagh (Sleuth) who is still looking for someone to be the hammer wielding hunk of muscle. For Captain America, the same is posed with Joe Johnson (The Wolfman) while looking for someone to fit the bill for his patriotic lead. For The Avengers, Jon Farveau’s name has been fluttering about to be the possible director. With Robert Downey Jr. already being confirmed for his Iron Man role in the upcoming Avengers movie, Farveau could be a possibility.
