Disney’s released a new trailer for its big spring tentpole flick, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (in 3-D!).  A few new things revealed in this trailer:  the plot of the film is firmly established as taking place after the original story, and chronicle Alice’s return to the titular Wonderland, for one.

Also, here there be dragons!

While the film looks visually striking from this trailer, such digital eye candy tends to be a touch overwhelming over the course of an entire film (e.g. Sin City, 300, Sky Captain the World of Tomorrow).  Here’s hoping Burton can buck the trend.

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland doesn’t hit theaters until March 5th, but you can catch this trailer in theaters this weekend in 3-D alongside James Cameron’s Avatar.  Check out the 2-D embed below:
