New ‘Tron:Legacy’ image! Trailer to debut tonight on HD Net!

The Tron: Legacy trailer is nearly upon us, and Disney has been releasing daily images via the film’s Facebook page. We have already seen pics of Flynn (Jeff Bridges), Flynn’s son and the exterior of Flynn’s arcade. Today’s pic actually takes us into the arcade, and the way the image is arranged draws memories of another cyberpunk film about artificial worlds, The Matrix.

All of these pieces are building anticipation for the film’s trailer which will air in front of Alice in Wonderland this weekend. However, for those who aren’t planning to see Alice or can’t wait that long (the trailer should hit the internet in advance of this weekend), tonight’s HD Net lineup has the trailer slotted for a 9 p.m. showtime.

The link to the HD Net site can be found here. If you have access, be sure to see the trailer and come back here and let us know how it is.

I saw it last night in front of Alice and must say I’m surprised and impressed. Although it forms an integral part of the architecture of my youth, I don’t have boundless stores of love for the original Tron. The pace is terribly slow and these days it isn’t the style that is dated, but the film stock and the uneven imagery. But Tron: Legacy brings the world of Tron to life in a way that none of us have seen.

There is a grungy, blue-tinted feel to the real world scenes and inside the digital universe, the visuals are stark and antiseptic, with glowing beams of light coursing across the city nightscapes and arenas full of neon warriors. Bridges shows up, there’s more of the light cycle chase and there are also some wonderfully realized moments within the program. In 3D, the action scenes look spectacular and I’m pretty certain this one is gonna raise the bar just a little further when we finally do see it.

Next Christmas can’t come fast enough.

Saw it last night was a pretty solid trailer if you ask me. BUT this movie is for the fans that know Tron and not many other folks in my opinion.

Based upon my wife's comments of 'uggh!' I think you are exactly right. That being said, it might have some crossover appeal based just on the fact Disney really seems to be selling their recent films as 'experiences' and not just as movies.

I was surprised how much of the trailer does rely upon a knowledge of the first film, whose plot wasn't exactly 'cut and dry'.

  3. [...] trailer you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. Sure, you could have seen it preview before Alice in Wonderland this past weekend but you were really waiting to see it online — after all, where else would [...]
