In what is easily one of the most troubled projects based on a short-lived ’60s TV show in history, The Green Hornet continues to make news.
Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz are currently in talks to join the project, according to Variety. Cage could potentially play the film’s bad guy Mr. X while Diaz would reportedly play a reporter and love interest for Seth Rogen’s lead character. (Not bad, Britt my boy, not too shabby.)
Green Hornet stars Seth Rogen as newspaper publisher Britt Reid. When trouble calls, he puts on a hat and mask and saves damsels as the Green Hornet. By his side is Hornet’s ever-present indentured servant, Kato, who was originally played by martial arts legend Bruce Lee.
Kung Fu Hustle director Stephen Chow was originally attached to direct. He was also attached to play Kato. Now he’s neither. Despite shenanigans, Green Hornet intends to hit theaters during the summer of 2010.
