Paranormal Activity Expands

pact1bOren Peli’s horror flick Paranormal Activity has garnered such unexpected success that Paramount Pictures is expanding the film’s showings for already the second time since its theatrical release.

The movie was originally released in a select few big cities in the U.S., quickly selling out screenings and eliciting positive reviews. The film met with such success at its opening that it expanded its release to cities that demanded, via the film’s website, Paranormal Activity be brought to their theaters. The catch? The film was being shown only at midnight.

These midnight showings have brought in such revenue for Paranormal Activity– $1.6 million in only two weeks– and created such demand from movie goers that Paramount is expanding the film even more. As of today, Paranormal Activity will be shown at all hours at 159 theaters in 44 cities.

Paranormal Activity faces the possibility of being expanded even further, with its website ParanormalMovie.com allowing interested audiences to demand the movie be brought to their cities. When the site hits 1,000,000 demands, Paramount will expand the movie’s release even further.

Interested in seeing what all the hype’s about with Paranormal Activity but the movie hasn’t been released in your city? Head on over to the film’s website and make your demand heard!
