Percy Jackson Vs. Sequel Expectations!

If director Chris Columbus gets his wish, we may be seeing Percy Jackson doing battle with a Sea of Monsters very soon.

Less than a week after its international release, Fox’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief has already begun losing much of the public interest. However, the full line of Percy Jackson novels, currently standing at five, has been optioned for film by Fox, and even with the decidedly lukewarm reception of the first installment, a movie version of the series’ second part, The Sea of Monsters, may already be a go.

Producer/Director Chris Columbus spoke about the possibility of continuing the franchise at the film’s London press conference:

“If we are successful enough, I’d love to make another film almost immediately with these guys. We had a wonderful time. I love the enthusiasm and lack of cynicism. I want to go back to work quickly.”

Percy Jackson star and current Spider-Man prospect Logan Lerman is also crossing his fingers for some more mythological adventure:

“I’m invested into the whole series. I’m crazy about the story and crazy about the character, I’d love to do all the films.”

The Lightning Thief still has a long way to go at the box office to be considered a theatrical hit, but it won’t be until the movie’s DVD performance is measured that we’ll know if the book series could be a lucrative film franchise.

Is The Lightning Thief a fun-enough, mythical thrill-ride to warrant a few sequels, or did the movie butcher the novel’s heart and subtext enough to kill the franchise? We want to know what you think!

it was good. i loved it. logan lerman and chris columbus did a great job. sure it may not be well because of the closeness with harry potter. but i think it can turn around. if chris deciedes to do another movie, he has to edit some of the parts that wernt so good eg. the corny love bits and the harry potter bits. but otherwise. DO ANOTHER ONE.

    • Elizabeth says:

The movie was a total FAIL!!!!!!!!!! It was nothing like the book, so much was left left out or change. I rather spend 5 hours watching the real movie instead of spending 2 hours to watch a fake movie. It’s like the director hasn’t even read the book but was just told some part of it. I mean, COME ON!!! The movie was a MAJOR fail and i hope Chris Columbus does not direct the sequels because i guaranty true Percy Jackson fans will hate it. Some parts were okay but overall? It definitely was not what i expected.

  2. Kathy says:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do another one. look. people have to go in a movie theatre expecting something new and different. i knew it wasn't going to be exactly like the book. BECAUSE the book and the movie are two different peices of art!!! i enjoyed both… the movie was a success. i loved it. i know its not like the book, but it was definatly entertaining. and i give two thumbs up to Chris and the cast cause the movie was terrific and i cant wait for the next one.

from what people have told me of their opinions about the movie they like it. but i still sense how they dont completly seperate the two ideas – MOVIE slash (/) BOOK. i think the biggest thing that people have said was that Annabeths hair was supposed to be blond…which i guess was kinda of an up…but alexandra is very talented and so i dont have a problem with that. they said that the movie cut some important characters roles…which is true, but im sure chris columbus will make everything fall into place. ;) hes a genius and i respect him a lot. Logan Lerman and Brandan where amazing. its also good to have a HOT young cast cause believe me ' if you get a girl hooked on somebody they enjoy seeing (aka :P Logan) :D he is definately a hawt one… tee hee… we will keep on coming to see it, and eventually become obsessed and he'll become one of the hottest young hollywood stars. for example = Taylor Lautner.

    OVERALL – VERY VERY GOOD!!

gosh, i really hope i didn't write all of this and nobody reads it…..great.

    • Bob says:

ya they changed alot, but it was still great, for instance, they didnt fight the hydra in the book, they changed annabeth’s hair from blond to brunnette, grover was suppose to be caucasion (sorry if i spelled it wrong) and it didnt show hermes cabin, clarisse, or ares. When the minotaur attacks, theyre car is supposed to be hit by lightning, and percy is supposed to break the minotaur’s horn off with his hands. The Poseidon cabin is supposed to be a low building made of hardened coral with shells and things inside of it, not a run-downed old piece-o junk wood cabin with no walls. Luke doesnt give them a shield ares gives them a backpack in the book, and grover is supposed to be wearing the winged shoes. Other than all that, MAKE A SEQUAL!!!

    • Stephanie says:

      Hey Kathy
I completely agree with you that movies and books are two different forms of art! Not everyone understands that and I think Chris Columbus did a fantastic job on making the movie different from the book.

DEFINITELY MAKE ANOTHER ONE!!! I cannot WAIT to see what the next one is gonna be like, but I just know it will be amazing!

      • Elizabeth says:

Why should the movie be different from the book? It doesn’t make sense and besides when did bad acting become amazing????

    • Ray says:

I completely agree with Kathy also, yes the movie was different from the book, it left alot out and changed things but it still worked very well and i enjoyed it. Logan, Brandon and Alexandra were brilliant in their roles and were supported with fantastic actors and actresses. The books are a joy to read and they all definately should be made into films. What was left out of the first film can easily be put right for the next one the sea of monsters. That will be a brilliant film lots of action to look forward to with Charybdis and Scylla, Circe, the Sirens, the fight on the Princess Andromeda and the chariot race. Chris Columbus will deffinately introduce Thalia’s tree,Clarisse, Kronos and the prophecy into the movie because they are very important to it and also for the rest of the films. It would be cool if everyone could write in what they would like to see in the next film and it be put together into a page on the site, so if the people who ar making the movie where to check up they could get ideas from it and incorporate them into the film. I would lke to see Annabeths cap of invisibility and when Percy saves her from the Sirens and he has seen her dad and how she would have rebuit Manhattan, she could reveal why she left home and that she loves architecture which was left ot of the first film and will be important for the last film. What do ye think?

    • The Great Fatsby says:

That you called it art angers me. Clearly someone doesn’t know how to appreciate legitimate film and what is just popular bullshit. It is because of people like you that the truly great and artistic cinema of this age will be lost, but Twilight will be remembered forever as so much (surprisingly well thought-of) teen vampire porn for the younger generation.

    • PJOlover says:

Chris Columbus did not balance the book and the movie properly. Also it has been movies based off of books that has done the book justice. The Lion the Witch and Wardrobe, Twilight, and The Lord of the Rings come to mind.
Yes, I realize they can’t do the movie exactly like the book. But the Lightning Thief plot would be fairly easy to stick to. Honestly. They easily could have easily made Mrs. Dodd’s explode. Camp, they could have had a pine tree easy. The claiming the oracle, the bus, the Arch, the Nereid, cursed shoes should have been easy with all the special effects they did. And all they had to do was talk about Pan and Annabeth’s love of architecture, not that difficult. And having a deep black hole, how hard is that? And the age and Grover being black does not really bother me. The lack of a scar irks me but I can deal.
But ignoring the book. the plot was rather thin if it was a book it would be horrible. But since it was a movie it was good. Yes I know that it wasn’t utterly horrible, as a movie. And I totally agree. Grover, although out of character, was awesome.
If I had never read the book, I would probably adore the movie. But I read the book so I do not like it.

    • Kirby says:

i liked the movie, but except for the names and the half bloods it had nothing to really do with the book, when they change the story line that much should of renamed it too

  3. kristin206 says:

So I guess I will be the downer here among all these praising words. I'm simply gonna refer to my previous comment about this movie…
I rolled my eyes several times during this movie. Lerman is apparantly capable of showing only two emotions. One is constant bewilderment over what he sees around him, the other is a slightly worried, yet determined, expression when something “scary” occurs. Who doesn't even shed a tear when their mom dies? He's over her death in literally 15 minutes. He's then back to his awed expression over this camp that he's just arrived to. It's been a while since I've seen a more random storyline. They had an opportunity to make a great movie here, sadly this was a chance well wasted.

Ok, I know Chris Columbus directed both this movie and the first two Harry Potter movies, but Percy Jackson the new Harry Potter? Are you kidding me?!? Harry Potter is in a completely different league! PJ doesn't even come close and it never will (unless the next movie suddenly improves by a hundredfold). Granted, Percy Jackson is absolutely a good family film, as intended, but what Harry Potter has that Percy Jackson fails to achieve, is an ability to capture a broader audience. If you're 10 or if you're 54, HP still manages to grasp your attention and entertain the way you want a fantasy movie to.

    • Arie says:

Logan’s acting wasn’t bad at all…it was the script that is bad……how can he cry if the script doesn’t even say so?! huh?!

    • Aly says:

In the book, he doesn’t cry too… does he? :P

    • RobB says:

Watch ‘my one and only’, where Lerman’s character hears his father has died. He IS capable of acting the right emotions very well. So i guess it is the scripting. And i think he did cry in the book, right after the fight and he did feel sad about losing his mother. But also he believes he can get her back.

  4. Roselle says:

I agree with you, Kathy. I, too, am able to keep the book and the movie versions of “The Lightning Thief” separate. I am a writer and I so admire the fact that Rick Riordan wrote the Percy Jackson series of books to help his son and other children with dyslexia and ADHD. I love that Riordan also showed me that there are many ways to be a teacher since I love working with kids and wasn’t able to get certified as a teacher. That makes the books very special to me. I am having a blast with the movie, too. I thought that Logan Lerman, Brandon T Jackson, and Alexandra Daddario were awesome as Percy, Grover, and Annabeth. I also loved that the relationship between Percy and Poseidon will grow and get better. The scene where Percy and Poseidon reconcile is my favorite scene in the whole movie. Poseidon is my favorite adult character. Kevin McKidd is awesome, too. I’m just having a great time with this in both its versions.

  5. Cookie says:

I loved this movie! I think they should definitely make another one. I would be a huge upset if they didn’t. Logan Lerman, Colombus, Thurman, McKidd, and everyone else did such a great job with this movie. It is such a great one-of-a-kind story, too. I have never seen a movie that was able to capture Greek mythology in modern day such as this. It is also a fantastic chance to get children excited about mythology again. So much can be benefitted from the learning of Greek mythology. It wasn’t perfect, nor did it make nearly as much money as the first Harry Potter did but this movie is incredibly worthy of a sequel and I think the film industry would be at a huge loss if they didn’t make one. Hopefully a sequel will get more attention and ultimately rake in more money. It definitely deserves it!

  6. Atlas says:

I really enjoyed this movie. It was fun, funny, and a great time at the movies. I believe it is more than worthy of a sequel.

  7. Jim says:

This was awful!!!! they butchered the books beyond repair

  8. CouchPotato says:

The Lightning Thief was fantastic. Not only was it entertaining, but it was really well-made, well directed, and well casted too. They’ve got a great series to adapt to the big screen, and a great movie to start it off. They must keep going!

  9. ANTR says:

I think a sequal should, without a doubt, be made. “The Lightning Thief” is nearing 200 Million worldwide, and more and more people are becoming aware, reading the series, and it is growing its own legs as we speak. It’s popularity is getting larger and larger. Now that we know the film can stand on its own, I think a sequal is a very good idea. The cast and crew are committed to this story, and a sequal can only get better than what they had. I’m looking forward to it.

  10. Thaliamist says:

A sequel is definitely a must! They should do all the films.

  11. ztmillers says:

I really would love a sequel, and I’m not the only one. In fact, I think that Chris should direct all five films. I’m up for a five-set movie series of Percy Jackson.

  12. Littleshadow says:

They should definitely make a sequel. Sea of Monsters deserves to be made and they should give it a shot. The Lightning Thief was great! I loved it and I would be heartbroken if a sequel wasn’t made. It would be amazing if we got to see the whole series on the big screen.

  13. Debbie says:

I read the books and saw the movie with my nephew who loves the books as well. We agreed that they didn’t do the books justice. It seemed to be ‘thrown’ together and things added to the movie that happen in books 2 and 3.

I’d love to see someone out there make an anime/cartoon version of PJ series and continue after book 5 with more adventures with PJ…(hint: I have not read book 5 yet…LOL so shhh on spoilers :P )

  14. Aly says:

I really loved the movie. I loved it so much, that I began to read the books, and I simply loved all of them. (though I only came to book 3 now, the other two haven’t came out to Germany yet), and I’m still a big fan of the movie, because it was also very entertaining and such, even though they left out a lot. it isn’t only about how they changed the book or better, how they made out of the book the movie, it’s about how they made the movie theirselves. I think that they did an AWESOME job on the movie, I loved the cast (especially logan ;D), the special effects and all the scene. i really were a little disappointed that they left out the ares daughters&sons and dionysus, but they surely appear in the sequel. they MUST appear in the sequel, because they’re very important for the storyline in book 2 and 3 (and i think in 4 and 5 too lol), so, the sequel movie really can only get better, and then more people will like it. the more “parts” the movie has, the more it gets popular. NO movie series got as popular as they are today with its first move… seriously. and besides, I TOTALLY HATE how people compare harry potter and percy jackson. THEY. ARE. TOTALLY (!!!!!). DIFFERENT. both got a boy, who gets to know he’s a very special person and who enters a totally new world. THAT’S ALL THEY HAVE IN COMMON! and seriously, a lot of movies have a plot like this. so please, stop comparing percy jackson to harry potter… though i think that percy jackson has the ability to get as popular as harry potter someday. :P the movie is really worth to watch it, and it’s so worth to make a sequel!!!

  15. kid says:

book was better, movie was still good, hope they make the rest of the series

  16. Angel says:

If there is a sequel, I will be miffed. I read the book series, and the movie disappointed me. I can understand that of course the book and the movie are going to be different. But it seems like Columbus went COMPLETELY out of his way to mess up the book-to-movie transition. It would have been so much easier if they had stuck with the book’s idea. They didn’t even introduce some characters and parts that would be crucial to the series later.
    http://percyjackson.wikia.com/wiki/Percy_Jackson_book_to_movie_differences
^This link proves my point. Again, some book and movie differences are good. But Columbus strayed away from the entire book, and so far has messed up how the series will run as movies. In my personal opinion, there should not be a sequel for the Percy Jackson movie, and if there is, I believe there should be a different director.

    • Aly says:

If you enjoyed the movie, it doesn’t matter if it’s so different from the book..seriously, this is SOO dumb. you cannot expect a movie to be like the book, not even in the slightest! You just have to put them in 2 different categories, and if youe enjoyed both, the movie and the book, then both are good. If you are disappointed of the movie, because they left out a lot and you only search for good things in the movie… well, get a life, seriously. Not even Harry Potter can be compared to the books… Don’t judge a movie-cover of a book of how much they left out and didn’t left out.. humans who do that are really poor.. sorry to say it like that, but it’s just the truth,..

      • Anna says:

The problem is that even if you take the movie as a totally separate work with only the same name as the book, the characters are dull and superficial and the plot is thin. I would like to see another movie, but only if they get better writers. I can live with changing the plot, but why did they have make the characters 2-dimensional?

  17. Liz says:

I loved the books, read them in about 5 days, and I would love to see the movies as sequels. I would hope though, that they try to follow the books a bit better. I get changing their ages, for both story purposes and for behind the scenes/movie making purposes, but where the movie veered from the books, I thought were the weakest parts in the movie. I did enjoy the movie though, and went and saw it twice, and I will be buying the Blu-ray when it comes out. I really do hope that Fox continues with the films.

  20. CJG91011 says:

I definitely think the Sea of Monsters should be shot! The first movie was totally awesome even though it was different from the book and I think the sequel will do just as good. Logan Lerman is a GREAT actor and I think that Chris Columbus is an awesome film director who should keep up this series. I’ll be looking for more of the movies to come out and PJO:LT to come out on dvd!

  21. Becca says:

I love the series, and I have to agree that the movie is almost nothing like the book. But that’s what makes the movie something new, exciting, and different to me. They did take out some characters, but the amazing settings, special effects, and costumes made up for it (mostly). I think that Chris Columbus can definitely continue the story- just introduce Clarisse in the Sea of Monsters, and pretty much everything will be good.

  22. Jimmy Hamilton says:

Please make another one! I love the book series I began reading the series when the movie came out I am currently on the fifth book second chapter thanks guys!

  23. Mat Gle says:

I really liked the film bu i didnt get the whole”Luke is dead part” and Clarisse!?

  24. Sandy says:

I loved this movie and I think even though it did have some differences than the books, they did a great job with this movie. I think the reason why it hasn’t had such high ratings and such a high fan base was because they didn’t promote this movie enough. I knew about it a few months before it came out just because I was a fan of the books, but I remember only TWO weeks before it came out I finally saw a trailer on tv and online. For the next movie they need to do a LOT more promoting! GO SEA OF MONSTERS!!!

  25. Ava says:

Oh my goodness, I loved this movie!!!!! I’ve seen it a few times already and I want to see it again! I hope you make another movie. Sure it was diffrent, but I think it gives it alittle bit of a more modern flair. I ligitly wanted to see the whole instalment on the 12 (opening day) I would be greatly upset if there wasn’t a countinued movie production! :) I love Harry potter too and both of these are my favorite books and movies. Make more! Logan lerman, your awsome I’d love to meet you!! :)

  26. Karen says:

The movie would have been amazing on it’s own but it’s not. it’s supposed to be based on a book..
    this certainly didn’t.
other than taking a couple main characters (and changing appearance of one in particular), the name and loosely getting a fuzzy and vague idea of the plot, the movie is totally different.

don’t get my wrong, i would adore having the whole series as movies and owning them all on DVD but the question i have to ask is: how in the world can there be movies for the next 4 books is the big plot that continues throughout the whole series was totally ripped out of this movie. Kronos and Ares weren’t even mentioned.

Chris Columbus has a lot of work to do if he wants to pull this off…

  27. Drakon says:

    MAKE ANOTHEr

  28. Alick says:

I would love another one of these, but I don’t think I want Chris Columbus directing it. Or at least get the plot right this time.

  29. Jazzy says:

I really hope they make a sequel!

I don’t care if the stupid book fans of Percy Jackson hate it! I read the books and I still liked the movie!

and ALL of my friends never read the books, but they still enjoyed the movie!

    They should make a sequel

    • jesse says:

no no no they shouldnt make another one because allow me to make a list of things they got wrong
      1. percy is 12 not 16
2.when he gets to camp no one knows he is the son of poseidon until he is claimed after being attacked by a hell hound
3.mr.d (dionysus) is not there when he is camp couselor
4.clarisse was supposed to torture percy when he got to camp but she wasnt there either and she plays a big role in the sea of monsters
5.grover is trying to get his searchers license not his horns, hes a satyr he already has horns
      6. where is the iris messaging
7.percy never used lukes winged shoes
      8. wheres kronos?
9.they were supposed to go the archway monument and fight a chimera, not the parthenon in nashville and fight a hydra
10.look im at ten now…percy was supposed to meet with ares so the god of war could ask percy to do him a favor and get his shield and aphrodites cloak out of the tunnel of love which was a trap set by hephaestus for ares and aphrodite
11.percy got the pearls that allowed them to leave fom the underworld from a water spirit
12.they left out the bed salesman part that tried to kill percy and gang
      13. hades didnt want the master bolt he wanted his helmet of darkness back cause luke stole it during the winter solstice
14percy didnot save his mother but got her back in the end cause he gave the helm of darkness back to one of hades’ furies
15 percy didnt use an ipod to look at medusa he used one of those garden spheres (darn product placement)
16 they did not keep the head of medusa, they sent it to the gods cause percy was in a bad mood and he wanted to get back at them
17.the big fight scene at the end was supposed to be between ares and percy, not luke and percy
18 when percy got back to camp luke made a scorpion sting him and nearly posoned him to death
      19. when percy got back home he noticed that his mom was back and found out that the gods sent back the medusa with a letter from poseidon stating he was sorry for abandoning him
      20. man chris screwed this up…anyway percy gave the head to his mom so she could let her do what she wanted with it which was to turn gabe into stone my favorite ending
      21. annabeth does not admit any feelings whatsoever to percy in the movie she did
      22. annabeth has blonde hair and grey eyes big screw up there
ALL IN ALL DONT MAKE A SEQUEL UNTIL U REDO THE ORIGINAL ALREADY SO MANY FANS ARE BOYCOTTING THIS MOVIE. i heard a twelve year old kid when i walked out of this movie say it sucked and everybody he was twelve for gods sakes and i bet he read the book

  30. Wayne says:

They should totally make a sequel!! I mean, I could freakin buy advance tickets to all the movies right now!!!! I’ve read the books, and they’re super nice, but i think doing this movie a bit differently just expands it’s artistic horizon,…plus having an ultra-hot Percy Jackson doesn’t hurt one bit…I’m looking forward to seeing Logan play Percy in the rest of the films!! xoxo

  31. Bekah says:

I read the first four books on the Christmas break of 2008 and loved them, then when the fifth came out I fell even deeper into love. I had always had my suspicions of it being made into a movie, but when I found out that it was a definite I was over excited. I even went to a preshow, but I have to admit, it was a bit of a letdown. They cut out a lot of key points from the book that come into play in the following books. Some of these things being; Clarisse; she has a main role in “The Sea of Monsters,” Grover wanted a searchers license; they replaced this with him wanting his horns. This is a key part in the second; he was looking for Pan when he stumbled upon Pol…the cyclopes’ island, which cause the slew of events to follow in that book, there are many other really important details left out like the Oracle and the Great Prophecy, but the one that stuck out the most for me was Luke’s reasoning for stealing the bolt. In the movie it was that he hated the Gods and he wanted Half-Bloods to rule, when in the book he was told to steal it by Kronos, who was completely left out of the movie. He was only mentioned at the very beginning in the museum. Being a crazy fan of Luke, I thought that they made him seem way too evil, and that made my very pissed off. Also, they seem to kill Luke in the end of the movie…that’s self-explanatory if you have read the books. So, overall I liked the movie; there was a decent amount of fighting (which I love), even though it was really cheesy…But, I would love it if they made more movies in hopes that they will compare to the books, I would especially love to see “The Last Olympian.” I already can figure out how they can bring things like Thalia’s tree into play, but I won’t say them because I think this post is long enough.

  32. Bo says:

OMG I loved it!!! Really good.

  33. Wesley says:

Bring on Sea of Monsters! Sure, the book and movie are quite different, but the only big thing changed is the age of the characters, and I’m looking forward to more movies so they can explain how the Great Prophecy will work in the movies. Specifically the line about “Shall reach sixteen against all odds”

  34. Angie says:

I loved the book and liked the movie. It was really different from the book. But it was still good. I will buy the dvd and see the next movie. (If it’s made.)

  35. Moi Wymer says:

Okay, I haven’t read the books, the Lightning Thief was a bit of let down for me as I love Greek mythology and felt that chucks of story were missing or felt there wasn’t enough fantasy, I don’t know. I did enjoy the movie and would love to seeing them make movies for the whole series, but please, meatier story or side stories because I could feel there could have been a lot more added to make it totally capturing.

As for those worried about there being no plot to carry on for the sequels, don’t worry, they totally ripped to shreds the plot for Harry Potter with “The Goblet of Fire” but thankfully the director for “Order of the Phoenix” was able to steer the plot back on course and making a much better movie as a Harry Potter addict lol

  36. Eira says:

The movie was okay but they could have gone much farther with it. The whole sequel is based on Percy and his friends trying to stop Chronos (not sure how to spell it) and in the movie they did not even once mention his name. They also did not mention the prophecy about Percy. The whole plot of the movie was off. They did nothing to introduce the entire story of the next Percy Jackson books. Unless they make a complete 180, the Percy Jackson series will never get off the ground.

P.S. I am a obsessed with Percy Jackson.

  37. Noel says:

they should continue the whole series!! i absolutely loved it, plz plz plz make another one!!!! :)

  38. Jeremy says:

Look I agree they Butchered the movie from the book. I really didn’t even like the movie that well. However, I have hopes that they may fix it later on. So yes make another movie finished what you started.

  39. Gertrude says:

It was good. But Annabeth was not an Annabeth. She was some other chick with brown hair. No grey eyes? Common! And the quest? Out the window. The lack of PROPHECY was my biggest issu with this movie. So unless Chir C. is going to have a “big revelation” in the second movie, good luck with the scripts. I also found Grover was too playful, thought he was so entertaining. It also bugs me how it was like “welcome to camp half-blood, we know your dad is Poseidon just like that”.

  40. Cynthia says:

I loved the movie even though alot of stuff was different. I really, really, want a sequel. But I think that in the next one, they should stick a little more to the book because even though I loved the first move, it just wasnt like how I fell in love with the books.

  41. will says:

There was some problems with the film. First of all, all the actors they cast where too old for their roles. I think a part of why ‘Harry Potter’ was so successful as a film series was watching the kids grow up. Second of all, the script was very rushed. I understand at times, the nature of the books feel a bit rushed, but the film didn’t really set anything up. And third of all, the film tried a bit too hard to be cool. Yes, it’s a Harry Potter knock off, but I believe knock offs could be done well. ‘Percy Jackson’ is a good ‘Harry Potter’ knock off (talking about the books). Greek gods is a nice spin on the idea.

I thought the movie wasn’t tooo bad. The changes kinda bugged me, and not the details, but the major stuff like leaving out kronos and aries and changing hades/persephone and luke and hermes. If they want to do a sequel, they’re gonna have a lot of work reintroducing important charecters they forgot…

Look it was a good movie a really good movie. May family loved i like the books better, but they change good to make it fit. But just look at the number of little kids (12 and under) like it. ANOTHER MOVIE NEEDS TO BE MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the movie wasn’t as good as it could have been and they did leave out huge details, but it’s not that that makes me question how smart the writers are. Percy, et al. go to the Underworld on June 21, the Summer Soltice (the bolt has to be returned by the end of that day), and Persephone is in the Underworld. That is a HUGE mistake and goes against Greek Mythology. By June 21st Persephone is back in Olympus, she is only in the Underworld during the winter months (her mom Demeter is the god of seasons when she is sad: winter. When she is happy: summer) She is sad her daugther is in the Underworld. I can look over getting points from the book wrong, but this is Greek Mythology and has been around for 3,000 years. Simply research could have fixed this, all they wanted was another character they could put in the movie.

The actors and actresses were so bad at acting in this movie. In the museum, after Mrs.Dodds leaves, Percy is all like “Woah, did that just happen?!?!?!” and starts freaking out saying “I should be on medication” . That is such a total cliche thing to say. GET SOME TALENT PEOPLE!!!!!
