Sam Raimi, director of the cult classic Evil Dead series and this year’s Drag Me to Hell, will be producing a horror film called Refuge, written by Tom De Ville from a pitch by Corin Hardy. The latter is a talented animator and commercial director who’s recently caught Raimi’s eye.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film “centers on a remote town terrorized by a Yeti, the mythological creature native to the mountains of the Himalayas.” Sounds like more of a straightforward monster movie than we’re used to getting from Raimi.

Refuge will be produced by Jason Blum, Nathan Kahane and Steven Schneider. Before production begins, a short film with the same concept will be created to test the talents of Hardy and De Ville. It’s unknown whether Hardy will direct the short or feature himself, or whether another Neill Blomkamp-esque newcomer will test out the chair.

Meanwhile, Raimi’s producing Priest, while also getting ready to direct Spiderman 4 and World of Warcraft. Suddenly, after the brief calm that followed Spiderman 3, it seems that Sam’s a very busy man.
