Little is known at this point regarding Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight follow-up, Inception, but today brought a poster for the film, discovered by some enterprising young internet gamer who unlocked said poster by beating a game on the Inception website.

This appears to be a much milder form of The Dark Knight‘s viral marketing, and I’m secretly hoping Nolan and Co. manage to reveal absolutely nothing else about the film prior to its release date. All things considered nowadays, though, I’m sure we can expect a slow-but-steady roll-out of images, teasers, and online games in the buildup to Inception‘s July 16th release date.

What (little) is revealed in the poster:  Leonardo DiCaprio standing knee-deep in the middle of a flooded city (intriguing), and the tagline:  ‘Your Mind is the Scene of the Crime’ first seen in the teaser trailer.  He’s also holding what appears to be either an injection gun of some sort (Leo plays a CEO-type who runs a team whose job it is to remove and implant thoughts from people’s minds through some sort of injection device), or just a gun.  I’m hoping it’s a laser pistol.

And don’t forget, we’ve been promised a new Inception trailer Christmas day.

I must say that this trailer kicks a ton of ass. I am truly excited about this film even with true fanboys complaining of a fourth film. While 3 was terrible, as I think everyone assumed it would be, this movie looks to be a reboot, The Dark Knight style.

A new way of bringing to life John Conner and crew. McG has brought us something special if you ask me. I am looking forward to reviewing this one for you all.

Terminator: Salvation opens on May 22, 2009 and stars Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington and Bryce Dallas Howard. Directed by McG.

2008 may very well be remembered as “the year of the superhero”.  This is the year that gave us the immaculate “The Dark Knight”, the crowd-pleasing “Incredible Hulk” (although it did everything BUT please me), and of course the surprisingly strong “Iron Man” starring Robert Downey Jr.  The latter has just been released on DVD and Blu-Ray, with a 2-Disc “Ultimate” Edition that’s sure to satisfy the millions of fans the film garnered since its release this past May.

This hugely entertaining comic book adaptation about Tony Stark (Downey Jr.), a smarmy and sarcastic narcissist of a billionaire playboy who comes from a long line of weapons manufacturers who donates those weapons to the war effort.  But when Tony is captured and held captive in a terrorist camp for three months, he plans an escape by constructing a suit of iron equipped with some nifty devices and an assortment of weapons.  After being rescued, Tony returns home with a renewed set of morals and a fresh new purpose: he wants to protect the people he put in harm’s way by modifying his original suit design.  But Tony is soon swept up in a plot being orchestrated by his shady business partner Obidiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), who wants to use Tony’s suit design for more sinister purposes.

This 2-Disc DVD is jam-packed with bonus features, starting with a slew of deleted/extended scenes that are good to say the very least, but while watching them it’s obvious why they were cut.  Most of these scenes are extended versions of scenes in the final cut, such as more interaction between Tony and Rhodes (Terrence Howard) at Caesar’s Palace and on the plane ride to Afghanistan.  However, there are some entirely new scenes that are pretty nice, including more Iron Man action from the film’s finale and a scene in which Obidiah Stane chastises his workers for not building his own suit quick enough.

But the bulk of the bonus features are on the second disc.  Things really kick off with an elaborate 7-part making-of documentary entitled “I Am Iron Man”.  This documentary chronicles every single part of the process of bringing “Iron Man” to the big screen; it certainly takes a while to get through, but it’s still a worthy special feature.  Another one, “Wired: The Visual Effects of Iron Man”, gives us a gander into how the filmmakers created the impressive special effects of the movie, as the title would suggest.  “The Invincible Iron Man” is another multi-chaptered documentary, this one a 6-parter which details the history of the character Iron Man, from the initial conception to what he has now become.  Also included is Robert Downey Jr.’s Screen Test for the film, a short feature entitled “The Actor’s Process”, still galleries and more.  This Special Edition DVD is the type collectors dream off: full of quality features that showcase the hard work put into a really good film.

Of course, Paramount has also released a standard one-disc edition which includes only the film and the deleted/extended scenes, but this is the version more deserving of your money.

A few weeks ago DC Comics and Warner Brothers got together and realized that they need to fix their broken comic book to movie formula. Except for 5 movies in 30 years, they have had tons of problems with the rest. Superman: The Movie (1978), Superman II (1983)Batman (1989), Batman Begins (2005), and The Dark Knight (2008) are the only movies to really make money in the box office and do well. Superman III and IV were garbage. Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin were not nearly as well received as the first. Add to the fact that the last two featuring Robin didn’t have any chemistry between Batman and Robin. Catwoman bombed during the trailer process of the movie. And Steele had a decent plot but with the likes of Big Daddy Shaquile O’Neil as the leading man, you knew this wasn’t going to be a big box office draw.

So over the Summer Marvel Comics made this movie called Iron Man and followed that up with a new take on the Incredible Hulk. Both were leading down the path toward an Avengers movie in the not to distant future.  DC Comics and Warner both realized that this was the coures they wanted to take and the first thing they did was scrap the poorly received Justice League of America film that George Miller was working on.

Why is it that today it comes out that unknown actor Armie Hammer is still saying that he is going to be Batman in the JLA movie?  Dude, get a clue…the movie is dead, done, finished before it started. I know you’re upset that you won’t get to be Batman but move on already. The project is FINISHED! Is that so hard for you to understand?

Here is a quote from Armie to E! Online regarding his future as the next Caped Crusaider.

I would spend hours training with actual guns to prepare me for this stuff. It was very intense. Our workout regimens were so rigorous that most of us would vomit. We weren’t trying to get ourselves aesthetically good looking. We were trying to get ready for the demands of shooting.

The story even goes on to mention that the Batman suit was a workable costume ready for him to step into.

He’s already been fitted for the superhero costume, which he says features functioning equipment, including trademark Batman weapons like spring-loaded titanium Bat-erangs. “I was looking down, and I was thinking, This is the best,” Hammer said of the first time he put on the entire ensemble. “Then I stood up, and they turned me around, and I faced a mirror—there was Batman. But then it hit me like a ton of bricks—it’s not just Batman, it’s me!”

The bottom line is this…the project is dead. Stop trying to drag up a role that won’t get filled till after the Christian Bale movies are finished. The first things fan said when the project was announced last year is the same thing being said now…you can’t make a movie starring a Superman and a Batman while other Superman and Batman movies are in production. Having two actors playing different takes on the same character will make it harder for the average fans to connect to AND will confuse a lot of people as to which version of said character is the one they should follow on the big screen.

Let’s focus on getting a Green Lantern, Flash, and Green Arrow movie out there before we start to build a team movie. Let the audience get to see how the characters came to be before you group them into one big “blockbuster” battle.

Why cook the goose that is laying the golden eggs?

After what seemed to be a possible death at the end of The Dark Knight (sorry, you all have seen it and if you haven’t shame on you!), Two-Face is indeed dead. The boys over at CS have an interview up with Aaron Eckhart which should of been related to his latest film, Towelhead, but it seems its more of a Two-Face questionnaire.

When asked about Two-Face and the possibility of him coming back in the 3rd installment, his response was pretty clear.

Eckhart: No. I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, “You’re dead” before I could even get the question out of my mouth. “Hey Chris, am I?” “You’re dead!” Alright, cool.

You really can’t be much clearer than that for those folks hoping he would be back. While I understand Nolan’s point of view and vision for something new in the third film, Two-Face’s death felt rushed and almost abrupt.

The newest trailer for the upcoming Max Payne film featuring Mark Wahlberg has hit the net in a fury. With the statement from Wahlberg that he could kick The Dark Knight‘s ass with his hands, this movie better live up to the video game series. If it doesn’t it will hit bottom very very very hard.

While I think it looks to be a solid film, that may not live up to the standards set up by the video games. These games really brought something new and fresh to the gaming world and I hope the producers and directors did their job in sticking to the storyline of the games.

Max Payne is directed by Irish filmmaker John Moore, of Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix. The film is based on the popular Max Payne series of third-person-shooter video games. Max Payne is kicking ass in theaters on October 17th.

Well its Monday morning at the crack of dawn and we are upping the ante. Well not really, just give all of you guys a great way to catch up on the goings on of the weekend.

“Tropic Thunder” now sits atop the Box Office, bring “The Dark Knight“‘s train to a halt. 2nd place isn’t to shabby with an almost 17 million dollar weekend.

One of my favorite cartoons as a kid, “Voltron” is being given a reboot. The famed cartoon is coming to the big screen.

Harry Potter may of moved into 2009, but the photos keep rolling in. Check out the newest Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince photos.

Watchmen photos abound. This dark film should be a winner for the fans of the novel.

I am sure that I missed over 100 stories this weekend, but that is what Google is for! Enjoy your Monday!

The Dark Knight train is running after Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and will surely catch it. The Dark Knight topped the box office for a fourth straight weekend, adding an estimated $25 million to its massive total of $441.5 million. If the estimates are correct, then Christopher Nolan’s sequel has surpassed Shrek 2′s ($441.226 million) to climb to the third spot on the all-time top selling list, trailing just Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope ($460.998 million) and Titanic ($600.788 million). Warner Bros. Pictures said it expects “Dark Knight” to end up with about $520 million domestically, which I think it won’t stop there. The movie cost $185 million to make, and I am sure some suits in Hollywood are taking long vacations after this one!
