href="http://www.rise1961.com/" target="_blank">Rise to theaters earlier this year, is upping the ante this July, when the bring Giselle to theaters in 3D. Before you say it, lemme just stop you right there; no, it’s not the model. It’s the ballet. And yeah, it’s kinda badass for a ballet. We’re talking madness, death, vengeful ghosts and dancing a cemetery. Even with the “not your momma’s ballet” type of storyline, Giselle is one of the most popular roles in ballet (all apologies to Black Swan.) So the dancing? Will be epic.

So that’s the good news. The bad? It’s in limited release, the only theaters showing it in the Baltimore area are Snowden Square in Columbia and Cinemark Egyptian at Arundel Mills. And it’s a one-day-only showing, on July 12th at noon and 7:30pm.

From the official press release:

Giselle is the story of a simple village girl who falls deeply in love with a dashing prince disguised as a peasant. The idyllic pastoral scene is shattered by an act of betrayal and the ensuing heartbreak. In the ballet’s second act, Giselle haunts the stage with her host of vengeful spirits, but ultimately the strength of her love transcends even death and bestows forgiveness upon her repentant lover. The ballet stars Natalia Osipova as Giselle with Leonid Sarafanov as Count Albert.

As for the troupe itself?

Ever since its founding in 1860, the legendary Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg, Russia has been at the forefront of artistic and musical development which continues today with Giselle in 3D, the first-ever worldwide release of a ballet in 3-D. For more than 20 years the Mariinsky Theatre has been led by Maestro Valery Gergiev who has transformed the Mariinsky into a global theatre presenting international tours in dozens of countries each year. He has also made technology and media a critically important part of the Mariinsky with the launch of its Mariinsky Label and various other initiatives including this groundbreaking 3-D project. The US release of Giselle in 3D coincides with the Mariinsky Ballet’s residency at the Metropolitan Opera House during the Lincoln Center Festival. The company performs three programs multiple times beginning on July 11. For more information on the Mariinsky Theatre please visit: <a

Not only finishing up her filming with Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and the Diablo Cody written Jennifer’s Body, but even more reports are flooding in of future gigs she has in store.

The first couple we reported on here were that of her upcoming comic book roles (Jonah Hex and Fathom). Earlier this month she attached herself playing opposite Mickey Rourke in the Mitch Glazer written and directed film, Passion Plays. Fox will be playing an angel under the thumb of a ruthless gangster who ends up being saved by a trumpet player down on his luck. The indie film is set for a 2010 release date.

Next up on her slate is that of the Screen Gems drama/thriller entitled The Crossing. In this one, Fox will be playing the wife of a man who gets kidnapped once the two try to return from the border after a vacation in Mexico. In order to get him back, she must smuggle heroin from the border. No word on a permanent director for the film just yet, but initial filming could already take place mid-summer of this year. With the list of films already set for Meagan Fox, the starlet definitely is taking full advantage of her new Hollywood status and taking her career to bigger heights.

Meagan Dives Into The Comics

Movie News

dc comics

fathom

jimmy hayward

jonah hex

Josh Brolin

meagan fox
<guid

The story is set in the Wild West of the 1800s, centering around ‘A scarred bounty hunter tractking a vodoo practitioner who wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South’ (The Hollywood Reporter).

Fox will be playing Leila, gun toting love interest of Jonah Hex. The movie is set for an August 6, 2010 release date to theatres nationwide.

The second comic book adaptation set on her list is Fathom, from Aspen MLT Inc comics. The story revolves around a young woman called Aspen Matthews, a marine biologist who discovers that she’s part of an ancient race of aquatic creatures with hydrokinetic abilities. Previously this film was set into development in 2002, with James Cameron set to direct, but never picked up any steam. The movie is currently still in the development stages and has no set release date.
<div
