Atomic Popcorn brings you yet another Top 10 list! This time we are bring you a list of some of the best on-screen duo’s there are! Below is a list of my top 10 on-screen duo’s of coarse you will have your own opinion. I promise to not use the word chemistry more than 4 times also!

Without further ado, here is what I think are the top 10 on-screen duo’s of recent memory.

10. Ben Affleck & Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting- This unlikely duo of two kids from Boston making a movie based on something they wrote. Well the movie was a hit and the duo are still just that in Hollywood. Damon and Affleck both have a great career both behind and in front of them.

9. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys- who can see these guys without at least humming “Bad Boy Bad Boys, whatcha gonna do?” I know I can’t. A great on screen chemistry between these overly large men. The acting is on par with any action flick but these two bring to the table something special. I think they may be channeling a little something from another of our top 10 contenders for Top 10 Duo’s.

8. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction – These extremely violent yet stupid criminals made a movie and a career for a certain Director. While these two came onto the scene quietly, they left with a very large bang after this film. Such chemistry and great writing lead these guy’s onto our Top 10 list.

7. Sam and Frodo in LOTR Trilogy – This unlikely duo has melted ring’s around the world. All jokes aside about being gay lovers, this on-screen duo shares a lifetime of pain and love throughout these films. This duo was something that I don’t we had seen on screen in a while. A true chemistry between two guys in the midst of uncertain times.

6. Brad Pitt and George Clooney in the Ocean’s franchise – two of Hollywood’s leading men, leading the charge for some awesome bank robbing. What more can you want from two Joe Cool’s. Great acting, great suave, these two ooze cool.

5. Tyler and The Narrator in Fight Club – Didn’t we just mention Joe Cool above this, well he is back along side Edward Norton as number 5 on our list. These two really gave us a run for our money in Fight Club. Writing aside, the acting between these two made the movie what it is today.

4. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon franchise – oh my, two entirely different people trapped with one another made these two real men of the 80′s. The boys of Lethal Weapon brought to the screen an on-screen chemistry that not many have or will match. The laughs, the tears, the fights, true brothers ended up on screen with these two crazies!

3. Woody and Buzz from the Toy Story franchise – Yes I am well aware that they are artistically enhanced characters. Yes I am also aware I have a animated feature as my number 3. Without a doubt you have to include Tom Hanks and Tim Allen on this list. Starting as fierce rivals for Andy’s love, they have grown into a duo among the best. The interaction and delivery from this duo brings to life what we only know as animated history!

2. Robert Redford and Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting – Suave and complete. The acting and everything that follows and it includes these guys had it and brought it to the screen. These movies are classics for two reason and the two reason are the men above and below this blurb. These guys we looked at the men of men and rightfully so.

1. Steve Martin and John Candy in Planes, Trains and Automobiles – the funny men of the 80′s paired together to bring to the screen one of the best on screen duo’s ever. With Candy gone we can only assume what could of been but this was and is still a great movie. Due in large, or in whole, to these two completely crazy comedians.

10 – Indiana Jones IV – This has got to be one of the worst scenes of all time in the movies, but the explosion is pretty impressive.

9 – Death Star exploding in “The Original Star Wars Episode IV” – I shouldn’t have to lead into this film or explosion in anyway. Enjoy.

8 – White House in Independence Day – This movie seemed to of come out of nowhere and boy did it hit hard. This is a great sequence and explosion. A must see!

7 – The Rock - This movie is a must see for so many reasons, adding it to this list was a pleasure.

6 – The Dark Knight-A great sequence caught on film to say the least. A homage to the late Heath.

5 – Swordfish - This has got to be one of my favorite films for so many reasons. Love the story, the action, and this explosion is awesome!

4 – Stealth - The movie that bombed has one of the all time great explosion in movie history!

3 – Fight Club - The spectacular ending. Nothing else to say besides watch and enjoy!

2 – Terminator 2 – Opening Dream Sequence – this is hard to watch for a father of two kids, but such a statement and a well done scene.

1 – V for Vendetta – Parliament – Great movie, great scene, well done explosion all leading up to a great finale!

This is yet another Tuesday Top 10 List from Atomic Popcorn and today I have brought to you all what I think are the Top 10 Fight Scenes of recent memory. Below are the movie’s along with their videos of said fight.

10. The Way of the Dragon:
Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee – come on folks you CANNOT forget this fight scene!

9. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children:
Cloud and Sephiroth – this is an great fight scene along with awesome animation.

8. Raiders of the Lost Ark:
Indiana Jones doing what he does best – do a google search and read why this scene actually came about!

7. Lethal Weapon:
Mel Gibson against the ever crazy Gary Busey – great stuff all around.

6. Rocky IV:
Rocky kicking some Russian ass – this movie can make me cry in a matter of minutes. Great all around movie and a great great fight scene. Gloves and all!

5. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon:
Gorgeous ass kicking at it’s finest. What more can you want from a fight scene? Oh yeah Bamboo walking/flying!

4. The Karate Kid:
Crane Kick anyone? Enough said…

3. Snatch:
Mickey O’Neil vs. Gorgeous George – this just looks like it hurts.

2. Fight Club:
Come on you cannot leave out a movie with the word “fight” in it. And besides this is a classic scene in many ways.

1. The Matrix:
One bad actor versus many different agents? And kicking some serious agent ass..The Matrix is number 1 on my list!

David Fincher’s career is pretty much flawless. You might cry “blasphemy!” simply because of Alien 3, but I’ll be very honest with you: that is not a bad entry in that series, no matter what you might believe. And then Fight Club? Zodiac? Seven?

Now, he’s working on an adaptation of the Max Ehrlich novel The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, to be scripted by Seven‘s Andrew Kevin Walker. The story has already been self-adapted by the author once for a film in the mid-1970s, starring Margot Kidder.

According to THR, the film centers on a “college professor who begins having recurring dreams and nightmares and, realizing they are images of a past life, decides to search out the source of the visions. With his girlfriend in tow, he discovers a woman and her grown-up daughter who are keys to his past life.”

Yeah, that reads like a Fincher logline, alright.

Fincher and Walker are going to modernize the story for contemporary audiences. I can’t wait.

Like it was for many males of my generation, Fight Club was a formative film of my youth. It was brutal, hip, mean and fun — everything that a young teenager aspires to be!

Unlike many other males of my generation, I understood it was satirical and sarcastic, and that fight clubs were indeed not cool to start up in loving tribute of the film.

However, revisiting the film brings back warm memories of one of my first ventures into innovative, stylized filmmaking, and it’s surely one of David Fincher’s best works.

To date, it’s also the only completely successful film adaptation of a Chuck Palanuik novel.

Now, the beautifully gritty film will finally be arriving on Bluray on November 23rd, 2009. From the official press release for the disc:

The Fight Club: 10^th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray is packed full of punches with all-new bonus materials including two interactive featurettes – “A Hit In The Ear: Ren Klyce and the Sound Design of Fight Club” which allows users to remix four key scenes themselves with the help of Oscar^Ò-nominated sound designer Ren Klyce; and “Insomniac Mode: I Am Jack’s Search Index,” giving viewers the ability to access any part of the disc’s extensive bonus material via interactive tools.

Choke is another novel from author Chuck Palahniuk (writer of Fight Club) to become a big screen movie. In the movie, Sam Rockwell plays Victor Mancini, a sex-addicted con-artist that works at a Colonial theme park. Victor pretends to choke at up-scale restaurants in hopes of seeking out “saviors” to rescue him from his chocking. These saviors stay in touch with Victor and send money to him throughout the year. He calls it “soul cleaning” as it helps the saviors with any guilt they may have and refreshes their lives for remember the one time they did something brave.

Using this money along with his work paycheck he is able to keep his mother Ida (played by Anjelica Huston) in the state run mental hospital she is a patient in. Ida believes Victor is her various lawyers when visiting due to her Alzheimer’s as her symptoms seem to be getting worse. During one of his visits he bumps into the new doctor taking care of his mom, Dr. Paige Marshall (played by Kelly Macdonald).

On top of his mom’s medical issues, Victor also attends the weekly Sex Addicts class which is run by Phil (played by Joel Grey). Phil teaches that there is more to life then just having Sex. Too bad Victor isn’t paying attention as he is mainly there to pick up the women that are willing to do anything, anywhere, with him.

His work life isn’t the best there is. He works as a tour guide at a Colonial theme park. His best friend Denny (played by Brad William Henke) is having problems with their boss Lord High Charlie (played by Clark Gregg). Meanwhile, Victor wants to hook up with Ursula (played by the very lovely Bijou Phillips) and can’t seem to get the time of day from her.

Going into this movie I had no clue what to expect except for what I saw in the Red Band trailer. I was surprised at how well this story was put together. I have to say that there is lots of sexual intercourse throughout this film but the movie isn’t pornographic in the least so it doesn’t feel like one long skin-a-max movie. There are bright spots of comedy that enhance the story while showing the absurd nature that is Victor’s life.

Choke is opening in limited release on Friday, September 26th, so check your local listings to see if it is available in your area. Clark Gregg, not only acting, also wrote the screenplay and directed this wonderful oddball of a movie. Choke is rated R for sex, nudity, and adult language and situations with a run time of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Victor Mancini, a sex-addicted med-school dropout, keeps his increasingly deranged mother, Ida, in an expensive private mental hospital by working days as a historical reenactor. At night he runs a scam where he deliberately chokes in upscale restaurants to form parasitic relationships with the wealthy patrons who “save” him. When, in a rare lucid moment, Ida reveals that she has withheld the shocking truth of his father’s identity, Victor must enlist the aid of his best friend, Denny, a recovering chronic masturbator, and his mother’s beautiful attending physician, Dr. Paige Marshall, to solve this mystery before the truth of his possibly divine parentage is lost forever.

Adapted from the acclaimed novel by Chuck Palahniuk, Choke tickles the funny bone as it dives into darker areas of human behavior. At the heart of the film is yet another staggering performance by Sam Rockwell as Victor. He fully inhabits the character and nails both the comedic and dramatic aspects with indelible timing and delivery. A delicious blend of fresh writing, juicy performances, and sharp directing, Choke is actually quite easy to swallow.
