The second of six True Blood minisodes is now available.

Each of the six original minisodes will be written by series creator Alan Ball and will run for 3-5 minutes each. They will feature lead cast members such as Sookie, Bill, Eric, Tara, Sam, Jason, Lafayette, Jessica, and Pam in original scenes set before and after the current season of True Blood.

The second minisode features Jessica, played by Deborah Ann Woll.

True Blood’s third season premieres on HBO on Sunday, June 13 at 8pm EST.

Hungry for more True Blood but don’t want to wait until the summer series starts back up again? Then you’re in luck.

Starting today, Tuesday, April 27, HBO will provide  True Blood minisodes (their coined term for a webisode), the first set to debut exclusively on Yahoo! TV.

Each of the six original minisodes will be written by series creator Alan Ball and will run for 3-5 minutes each. They will feature lead cast members such as Sookie, Bill, Eric, Tara, Sam, Jason, Lafayette, Jessica, and Pam in original scenes set before and after the current season of True Blood.

After airing on Yahoo! TV, the first minisode will be viewable on HBO.com and True Blood‘s Facebook page on April 28, on HBO after the Season 2 encore presentation at 8 pm on May 2,  and HBO OnDemand May 3. Subsequent minisodes will air weekly on Tuesdays on select websites, followed by their air date on Sunday nights and HBO OnDemand.

The first of the minisodes, dubbed “A Drop of True Blood” by creator Alan Ball, showcases Eric and Pam auditioning dancers for their vampire bar, Fangtasia.

Season 3 of True Blood returns to HBO on June 13, 2010.

I am a big fan of HBO and much of HBO’s original programming, now it looks like there will be another quality production added to the long list of HBO classics. I almost forgot to mention that this instant (fingers crossed) classic, directed by Barry Levinson, could star a great (I’m talkin’ not seen since Any Given Sunday) performance from Al Pacino, also starring Susan Sarandon, Danny Huston and John Goodman — this cannot disappoint, dare I say jinx proof. Here’s the synopsis for You Don’t Know Jack:

Kevorkian, known as Dr. Death, assisted in more than 130 suicides. After willingly sending a videotape of himself euthanizing a terminally ill man to “60 Minutes”, he was convicted in 1999 of second-degree murder and spent eight years in prison before getting paroled in 2007.

Loosely based on Neal Nicol and Harry Wylie’s book, Between the Dying and the Dead: Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s Life and the Battle to Legalize Euthanasia, the HBO film follows Kevorkian’s (Pacino) rise as he builds his infamous Mercy Machine and sets out to perform assisted suicides while waging an epic legal battles defending a patient’s ‘right to die’.

John Goodman will play Nicol, a friend and co-worker of Kevorkian since 1961 and a steadfast supporter of the right to die.

Susan Sarandon will play Janet Good, an activist with the Hemlock Society who becomes one of Jack’s staunchest supporters, working side by side with him to make humane suicide available to the terminally ill and suffering.

The two teaser trailers for the film, found here and here, have the visual and audible beauty of the trailer for Sean Penn’s Milk. I can’t wait to “know Jack,” can you?

Hollywood is where I’ve had most of my werewolf encounters but enough about Robin Williams. Let’s explore this particular pack of Tinseltown werewolf as I wanna hear your pick for the alpha male to lead the pack.

Benicio Del Toro has his The Wolfman set for a very romantic Valentine’s Day weekend theatrical release (February 12, 2010) while you’ll have to wait a little longer to see Taylor Lautner’s abs and werewolf if you didn’t see the Twilight Saga’s New Moon in theater as the DVD and Blu-ray are due out late this March.

If you’re really hurtin’ for some lycanthrope cinema I’m sure you can find one of the Underworld films on cable television (if you’re an HBO subscriber then you’re probably watching Michael J. Fox in Teen Wolf as I type) or Hugh Jackman’s Van Helsing in Walmart’s $5 DVD bin. John Landis the very same director of such classic comedies as Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Spies Like Us and ¡Three Amigos! also had a soft spot for the hairy and scary when he first gave us An American Werewolf in London followed by An American Werewolf in Paris (flag his passport already!).

Maybe the most famous actor to howl at the moon was Jack Nicholson in 1994′s Wolf but it was Lon Chaney Jr. that introduced most of us to the werewolf in 1941′s The Wolf Man. Now I know I haven’t mentioned every barking big screen portrayal and personally I’m more of a Cat People type of guy myself (I carry a dog whistle for protection) but who is your favorite big screen werewolf?

Pre-production has begun in Hawai’i for The Descendants, based on the book by Kaui Hart Hemmings. Academy Award®-winning writer/director Alexander Payne teams up with Clooney for the first time in what should have the audience saying “mahalo” by the time the end credits roll. The Descendants is Hawai’i native Hemmings’ first  novel; the production marks a return to the director’s chair for Payne, whose last full-length feature was 2004′s award winning Sideways. Payne has been busy, writing 2007′s I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and producing HBO’s Hung starring Thomas Jane. In theaters right now you can see Clooney starring in Jason Reitman’s Golden Globe-winning Up in the Air. It should be noted that The Descendants will have company in the 50th state, as Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will also be filming there. Anybody else curious as to whether Clooney and Johnny Depp will shoot hoops or rock out together while sharing the same chain of islands?

Perhaps in a Julie & Julia-inspired agenda, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures TV (in conjunction with HBO) have signed first-look deals with the New York Times for film rights to their column “Modern Love,” which is essentially a weekly romantic comedy-drama bundled into a page or so. Thus, each week the column provides enough ammunition to fuel the romantic comedy genre in the movie business for the next ten years.

Producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun are producing an HBO pilot, with Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City) and Alan Poul (Rome, Six Feet Under) directing. The HBO show is “built around the fictionalized male editor of the column who is getting through a messy divorce and returning to the dating world,” while the film deal “gives the film studio first crack at specific ‘Modern Love’ columns that can fuel romantic comedies.”

Berman and Braun will produce the latter as well.

It seems that Columbia and Sony Pictures have stumbled upon a gold mine of material that can be used at their leisure to grab audiences at the drop of a hat. The column seems to be well-written enough to have potential, but now it seems like only a matter of time before Dan Savage is picked up for film rights.

All right, for many of you who are summer movie going fans, you cannot tell me that this is on your radar as one of the more anticipated flicks to come out during this July. That’s right folks, I’m talking about J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince that’s ready to apparate itself into theaters on July 15th everywhere. Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and directed by David Yates, the Muggle and Wizard world are both in danger thanks to Voldermort and his Death Eaters. Is Harry the Chosen One that everyone believes he will be in order to take them all down? Take a gander at HBO’s First Look on the boy with the scar on his forehead right here:

Following right after the events in the previous installment Band of Brothers, The Pacific tells the intertwined stories of three Marines during America’s battle with the Japanese in the Pacific during World War II.
