Synopsis:

Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross’s (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him — over his objections — to hunt down Chaney. Her father’s blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.

It would seem that brothers Joel & Ethan Coen can’t miss and this year they’re going to win more Oscars with their film True Grit. They have always made good movies, from Raising Arizona to Miller’s Crossing, Barton Fink to The Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Intolerable Cruelty. The Academy Award winning No Country For Old Men and now True Grit. The cast led by newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, starring Oscar winner Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Barry Pepper and Josh Brolin. Earlier this week, Jonah showed up on the scene, albeit a bit late to the party, in a sneak peak courtesy of  SyFy. Then an ugly mug shot of Jonah showed up online. Now we have the full on trailer, and I must say, I am very pleasantly surprised!

A little synopsis of the movie for you all left behind under a rock:

Jonah Hex (Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone… and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own.

But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

Jonah Hex stars Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox, Will Arnett and Michael Shannon and is slated to hit theaters June 18.

The last time we talked about Woody it was the news of Owen Wilson’s joining Woody’s next project. Since then the yet-untitled project has picked up a pair of beautiful Hollywood starlets in Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard (La vie en rose) and Rachel McAdams (probably won a Teen Choice Award for something). Filming on this project begins this summer in Paris with an expected 2011 release date.

Set to release this fall is Woody’s You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger starring Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Gemma Jones, Freida Pinto and Lucy Punch. Filmed August 2009 in London and premiering at this year’s Cannes Film Festival You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger has been purchased by Sony Pictures Classics for U.S. distribution. Sony Pictures Classics also distributed Allen’s Sweet and Lowdown (1999) as well as 2009′s Whatever Works.

Hailee Steinfeld has been selected to play the lead role of Mattie Ross in the Charles Portis adaptation. Steinfeld joins Josh Brolin, Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges in what could launch her young career to stardom. Unlike the 1959 big screen adaptation in which John Wayne’s character was the lead the Coens plan to stick closer to the source material which sets Steindfeld’s Ross as the lead. It should be noted that John Wayne won his only Oscar for his role as  Marshall Rooster Cogburn, the coarse hard-drinking U.S. Marshal Ross employs to track down her father’s killer. I’m looking forward to seeing Jeff Bridges as Rooster, and under the direction of the Coens again (The Big Lebowski). This will be the first time Damon has worked with the brothers Coen and second time for Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men), who has the brothers to thank for his career turnaround. See the Coen’s True Grit in theaters this Christmas Day 2010.

Continuing the relationship developed while working on Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Woody Allen’s next film will be produced by Spanish production company Mediapro, with Spanish broadcaster Antena 3 serving to co-produce.

The new movie, entitled You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, follows the love lives of the various members of a family, and the efforts they go to in an attempt to solve their problems.

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is the second of four planned collaborations between Allen and Mediapro, and will have a star-studded cast featuring Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, and Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto.

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is slated to be released next fall.

Paramount Pictures and the Oscar-winning duo of the Coen brothers have teamed up to remake the 1969 John Wayne film True Grit.

The movie, based on Charles Portis’s novel of the same name, focuses on a young girl traveling with two lawmen to find her father’s murderer.

Jeff Bridges was the first actor approached by the Coen brothers to be involved with True Grit, and now Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are in talks to take on major roles in the film. Damon would play the part of a Texas Ranger tracking a murderer, the role that would be filled by Brolin.

Of the three actors in negotiations for True Grit, only Damon hasn’t worked with the Coen brothers before. Brolin had a role in 2007′s No Country for Old Men, while Bridges played the now-iconic role of “The Dude” in 1998′s The Big Lebowski. True Grit‘s producer, Scott Rudin, has also worked with the Coens as producer of No Country for Old Men.

Paramount hopes to get started on production of True Grit in the spring.
