Hey there entertainment fans!  Since I’m tapping this out just before the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards show (and am I watching the pre-game show to see the dresses?  Doees Tim Gunn make it work?) this will be super-quick.  But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of cool stuff that you may have missed last week….

* You wish the folks that YOU like would win an Emmy?  Me too!  And we’re not alone; EW has coome up with the EWwy’s, a salute to the people and shows folks wish would get a what-what from the Emmy voters.

* Joan Rivers dead?  Oh hell no.  But Betty White, Joan sees you baby…. Sleep with one eye open, she’s on to you.

* An absolutely fantastic article from The Guardian about Cameron Crowe’s look at Pearl Jam, Pearl Jam Twenty, and his huge amount of Pearl Jam tsotchke.  Nice!

* Yeah, so the Muppets have now spoofed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.   Hilarious, as always.  But you know what’s really cool?  This poster of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, with Daniel Craig half-hidden by Rooney Mara.  Beautifully done!

* I have no problem admitting that American Horror Story is intriguing me, and I can’t wait to see it (though a few early peeks have been say it’s so-so, my hope springs eternal).  If you’re right there with me, check out a sneak peek of the American Horror Story house and some of it’s secrets.

(C’mon.  I had to use it. Because I couldn’t finagle a way to use “It’s in the hole!” Unless there’s a Caddyshack sequel coming…. *shudder*)

* Box Office: Cowboys & Aliens beat The Smurfs for the top spot (though that’s not tough; the little blue guys are only three apples high….)  Cappy held firm in the top 5, with Harry Potter at number 4 and Crazy, Stupid Love opening at the 5th spot.

* Guillermo del Toro has been eyeing Willem Dafoe and Rob Kazinsky to add to the star power of Pacific Rim.  Me, they had me at monsters.  And Idris Elba.  No, I’m not obsessed.  I can put down my Luther dvds anytime I want to , thankseverso.

* Miss Harry Potter?  Of course you do!  But never fear, Daniel Radcliffe has shot out of the starting gate and into other projects.  Though you’d have to travel to NYC to catch How To Succeed In Business…, The Woman in Black will be in theaters February of next year.  Why the bump to the beginning of Cinema Wasteland?  So The Woman in Black won’t compete with the new Underworld movie that is opening the same time as their original start date.

* Single?  Wanna impress the lay-deez?  Well fellas, I don’t know about all the other girls, but the new Evil Dead II Deer Head accessory would…well, scare the [RADIO EDIT] out of me.  Which means you’d have the wimmin jumping into your arms.  Win?

* Or, you could just wait for the Linda Lovelace biopics to hit.  The latest gal that may play Miss Throat?  Olivia Wilde.  Not too shabby.

* One movie that I am thisclose to calling upon He Who Must Not Be Named to send his evil minions in to destroy is the possible Twins 2.  Oh yeah.  Let’s hope this never sees the light of day.

* More Comic-Con movie poster unveilings!  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 1, The Raven, Happy Feet Two (and am I the only one who will miss Brittany Murphy?  Thought not.) Also, George Clooney’s The Ides of March, Stephen Soderberg’s Congation, and Kevin Smith’s Red State.

* “There’s gotta be more stars here than rehab!”  My thoughts exactly.  So enjoy the trailer for New Year’s Eve!

Since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 opened last week, who can think of anything else?  Here’s an all-Harry, all the time edition.  Think of it as a last hurrah for The Boy Who Lived….

* Box office: as you might expect, Harry Potter dominated this weekend, with a record-breaking first day and weekend.  Sweeping up after Harry are the Transformers, Horrible Bosses, Zookeeper and Cars 2.

* Haven’t seen the movie yet?  The wonderfully talented gals at Forever Young Adult have a Harry Potter drinking game that will get you (thrown out of the theater if you’re busted) “in the spirit”.  So sneak in a small flask and…drink!

* Wonder how real witches and wizards feel about Harry?  Well, there may not be flying broomsticks or a Room of Requirement, but some very real pagans weigh in on how their lives have been changed.  As if by magic….

* MTV has been pulling out all the stops for the final Harry film, and now that it’s in theaters they have five reasons you need to see it, the ten best Harry scenes, and ridiculous spin-off ideas  (none of them fanfic.  Yet.)  Total Film weighs in on the fifty greatest Harry Potter characters.  Yes, fifty.

* Not to be outdone, Slate has everything you need to know about Harry in six minutes.  Accio, awesomeness!

* Love the stars as much as the story (Neville, Fred & George — FTW!!!)?  HuffPo gives you a peek into what’s next for the gang.

* Speaking of our gang, like Harry?  Of course you do.  Like classic rock album covers?  Who doesn’t, they’re awesome.  Combine the two, and you have…something I’d like on my wall please.  And thank you, Nextmovie.

* If you’re still sad about the series coming to a celluloid end, there are very good reasons why you shouldn’t be, courtesy of Nextmovie.com.

* And, of course, you can now feel free to obsess over Twilight: Breaking Dawn or Hunger Games.  It won’t be the same, but it’ll do.  It’ll do.

Fathom Events, the folks that brought Rise to theaters earlier this year, is upping the ante this July, when the bring Giselle to theaters in 3D.  Before you say it, lemme just stop you right there; no, it’s not the model.  It’s the ballet.  And yeah, it’s kinda badass for a ballet.  We’re talking madness, death, vengeful ghosts and dancing a cemetery.  Even with the “not your momma’s ballet” type of storyline, Giselle is one of the most popular roles in ballet (all apologies to Black Swan.)  So the dancing?  Will be epic.

So that’s the good news.  The bad?  It’s in limited release, the only theaters showing it in the Baltimore area are Snowden Square in Columbia and Cinemark Egyptian at Arundel Mills.  And it’s a one-day-only showing, on July 12th at noon and 7:30pm.

Giselle is the story of a simple village girl who falls deeply in love with a dashing prince disguised as a peasant. The idyllic pastoral scene is shattered by an act of betrayal and the ensuing heartbreak. In the ballet’s second act, Giselle haunts the stage with her host of vengeful spirits, but ultimately the strength of her love transcends even death and bestows forgiveness upon her repentant lover. The ballet stars Natalia Osipova as Giselle with Leonid Sarafanov as Count Albert.

As for the troupe itself?

Ever since its founding in 1860, the legendary Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg, Russia has been at the forefront of artistic and musical development which continues today with Giselle in 3D, the first-ever worldwide release of a ballet in 3-D. For more than 20 years the Mariinsky Theatre has been led by Maestro Valery Gergiev who has transformed the Mariinsky into a global theatre presenting international tours in dozens of countries each year. He has also made technology and media a critically important part of the Mariinsky with the launch of its Mariinsky Label and various other initiatives including this groundbreaking 3-D project. The US release of Giselle in 3D coincides with the Mariinsky Ballet’s residency at the Metropolitan Opera House during the Lincoln Center Festival. * Box office?  As expected, Super 8 is the top moneymaker for this weekend.  Meanwhile, Magneto and Charles Xavier wrapped this up nicely; X-Men: First Class nab the second spot, with The Hangover Part II and Kung Fu Panda 2 right behind.  Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hangs on to the final spot in the top five, ousting Bridesmaids.

* The Wire’s Idris Elba in talks to take a role in Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.  This is still sketchy at this point, but since the reason it’s sketch is probably due to the possibility of Idris having a role in Quentin Tarrantino’s new flick, Django Unchained, I say that’s a good thing.  Either way, we’ll have him on the big screen soon.  Go ahead, Stringer Bell!

* Twilight and Star Wars…similar?  Well, Jason Sudeikis, the host of the MTV Movie Awards, explains the connection.  Okay, gotta say he’s not wrong.  And check out the winners of this year’s MTV Movie Awards — hooray for The Help’s Emma Stone for breaking through the Twilight sleeper hold on the ceremony!

* Alyson Hannigan’s back in the American Pie fold with American Reunion, and thank goodness.  She drops a few spoilers for fans, and it looks like it’s going back to the old-school fun of the original.  Hey, couldn’t get worse than the last few straight-to-DVD flops, but the return of Alyson, Jason Biggs and the incomparable Jennifer Coolidge gives me hope.

* I can’t be the only grownup that absolutely adored How To Train Your Dragon.  Right?  Well, for my fellow fans, there’s a release date for How To Train Your Dragon 2, and the possibility that this story could play out to a third film.  I can’t wait to see Toothless strut his adorable dragon stuff.  The problem is, the release date will be in 2014.  The agony!

* Last week a “leaked” version of the new American re-do of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo hit the internet.  Why didn’t I cover it?  Because it looked like someone just hit “record” on their iPhone and let it fly. Now the official The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trailer is up, as is their Web site.  I could do without the self-important word. By.  Word fast cuts from “The Feel Bad Movie Of Christmas” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” to snippets of the teaser (seriously, you can just show the entire movie title, we’re already sucked in to the teaser folks).  I missed the heavy bass beat from the original Immigrant Song too, if I’m being honest.  If you’re gonna get the Led out, go real or go home.  The cover just doesn’t cut it.

* I love classic movies.  Gimmie Bringing Up Baby, The Thin Man, His Girl Friday and I’m in heaven.  But they’re planning on remaking The Three Stooges.  Not sure how that’s gonna play with modern audiences, but then moviegoers did love Dumb and Dumber.  Anyway, Jennifer Hudson will be lending her Academy Award winning self to the film.  Bless her heart.

* Because Harry Potter did it.  And Twilight did it.  The Hunger Games will most likely be four movies.  I just finished the trilogy this week, and  I can see how an extra film could help tell the full story.  The fact that they’ve cast Lenny Kravitz as fashion designer/friend to Katniss Cinna has me crossing my fingers in the hopes they’re really trying to do this story up right.

* This week’s Everybody’s Talking trailer is Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, a movie even Tom Hanks told Entertainment Weekly that he’s dying to see.  Hey, after seeing the trailer myself I’ve got to agree.
