Is Tom Cruise’s burly, foul-mouthed producer alter-ego, Les Grossman headed to the big screen on his own?

Looks that way. Grossman, who made his screen debut in 2008’s raunch comedy Tropic Thunder also took the stage Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards, where he busted out in a rap dance that looked similar to the mating rituals of a silverback gorilla. Here’s the press release for the film, written as if Grossman is the real deal.

Film fans who already have one too many overbearing, insane producers to deal with, will be relieved to note that for the time being, Grossman is just a parody, albeit one fired pretty close to the heart of the industry.

‘Paramount Pictures and MTV Films announced today that they are set to develop a movie around mega-producer Les Grossman. The announcement comes on the heels of Grossman’s groundbreaking and visionary production of the soon-to-be Emmy® award-winning 2010 MTV Movie Awards Sunday night. Tom Cruise, along with Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld of Red Hour Films will produce and have secured the life rights to Grossman.            

Grossman, best known as a mega producer, has most recently mentored talents such as Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. In 2008, Grossman was introduced to the masses by Stiller in the comedy “Tropic Thunder” where the famed producer had a cameo playing himself.

Said Ben Stiller: “Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to quote, ‘F**king  kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honored to be working with him.”    

When asked what the screenplay was about Grossman responded: “To quote my great friend Kirk Lazarus, ‘I don’t read the script, the script reads me.’”

Adam Goodman, Paramount Film Group President said, “Everything I learned in this business, I’ve learned from Les. I started out as his assistant, and from the first day he threw his desk at me when I got his lunch order wrong, I have loved him like a father.  I am forever grateful to Ben and Stuart Cornfeld and their ability to secure his highly-coveted life rights,”

Tom Cruise is said to be in talks to portray Grossman in the film.

Michael Bacall (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) will write the script. He is repped by WME.

I had every intention of recapping Thursday night’s episode of NBC’s Parks and Recreation; alas, “94 Meetings” wasn’t much fun for me and so I didn’t care to write a column about how the rest of this season has been awesome. I would attribute most of Parks and Recreation’s awesome to two men, Nick Offerman and Aziz Ansari. While I’m still trying to get Mr. Offerman a woodworking program on PBS, Aziz Ansari can be seen Sunday June 6th hosting the nineteenth annual MTV MOVIE AWARDS. Indeed Aziz can be seen anywhere these days, from Human Giant to Funny People (Adam Sandler), Observe and Report (Seth Rogen), I Love You, Man (Jason Segal) and the soon-to-be-released Get Him to the Greek (Russell Brand). Can’t wait until June for some MTV and Aziz comedy? Enjoy.

MTV announced yesterday that this year, for the first time, viewers will be able to vote on the nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. To vote, go to MovieAwards.MTV.com.

Voting will be open for the nominees until April 9. Then, votes for the winners will be taken starting May 11.

This year, you will be able to vote on 13 categories including Best Kiss, Best Fight, Best WTF Moment, and, of course, Best Movie. This year, 3 new awards will be given out: Global Superstar, Best Ass-Kicking Star, and Best Scared-Assh**t Performance.

The winners will be announced live on MTV on June 6, 2010 at 9PM ET. This year’s host is Aziz Ansari, who stars in the NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation.”

Most of the time these “vote for the winner” awards shows are utterly worthless, but usually MTV’s is a fun show. However, in order to make the show great, you need to go vote. Hopefully, these awards can reward the movies that were great, but also have mass appeal.

Just like we have previously reported in our beats of coverage on the upcoming 2009 MTV Movie Awards, the three stars of the upcoming film Twilight Saga: New Moon presented the first trailer of the upcoming film courtesy of Summit Entertainment.

After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family. However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella’s blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks, Washington for Bella and Edward’s sake. Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black. Danger in different forms awaits.
