Check out these wonderful minimalistic movie posters designed by Grischa Stanjek (Atomic Popcorn reader) who so graciously shared this personal project with us and now we’re sharing it with all of you! The goal Grischa set for this project was to “reduce each movie to one single object” and I’d say Grischa achieved that goal with flying colors! Thank you Grischa for sharing these with us! If I had to choose a favorite out of this series it might be a Clockwork Orange, captures the movies sense of humor perfectly!

Star Wars. I don’t need to say more. Below you’ll find some pretty awesome artwork inspired by the most popular series in cinematic history. First up we’ve got a photo series by French photographer Cedric Delsaux that answer the question “What if Star Wars was set on planet earth?” answered in absolutely stunning fashion.

Next we’ve got altered antique plates designed by BeatUpCreations available for purchase via their etsy.com site here. I haven’t got blue hair but I just might need one of these!

Stephen King’s The Shining is not only a classic film directed by one of the best of all time, Mr. Stanley Kubrick, but also an endless source of artistic inspiration and expression as evidenced by this poster designed by Nick Tassone.

Chris Thornley designed this homage to Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets which had a fantastic official poster when the film was released in 1973 starring Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel.

If you’ll remember the line, “Make yours like mine.” from Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums then you know exactly what Ibrahim Youssef has illustrated in his poster for The Royal Tenenbaums.

Another Chris Thornley design this time perfectly capturing the dark humor and playfulness of Christian Bale’s American Psycho. This is as perfect a time as any to point out that recently Bale was quoted as saying he used Tom Cruise as a model for his Psycho role. I don’t know whether or not Cruise should take that as a compliment.

Matt Needle designed this Michael Caine Get Carter poster, unlike Sylvester Stallone’s remake the original was as cool as Caine and Matt Needle’s poster has harnessed that coolness.

Unstage.com agrees with us that the art of film doesn’t start on the screen. They have compiled a list of 150 Creative Movie Posters. You may remember Unstage from their list of 100+ Creative Covers (DVD packaging) and though you might think the poster and DVD cover are the same image often times they are not (and sometimes they should be the same image). In their words:

“We’ve compiled a list of 150 aesthetically pleasing movie posters that should inspire everyone, from Graphic Designers to film buffs.”

Here are the 2010 Best Film Nominees of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts as seen through the eyes of graphic designer Tavis Coburn. Coburn’s website describes his style as “inspired by 1940s comic book art, the Russian avant-garde movement, and printed materials of the 1950s/60s.” I say thank you and may I have another! This is the one time when I think the Oscar’s new 10-nominee field isn’t so bad, BAFTA’s five nominees just aren’t enough. Anyway here are Coburn’s An Education, Avatar, The Hurt Locker, Precious, and Up in the Air which makes me think — of these five, which would you pick as your “Best of 2010?”

Finally. Something else I can add to my wall.

The new international poster for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds has hit grandma’s interwebs and we are lucky enough to find it. Maintaining the true international poster style, this one-sheet is mostly lame with a side of a haunting Eli Roth. But, with that said, it appears Brad Pitt is walking into my soul.

Basterds stars Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Bruhl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak and Til Schweiger. It opens August 21, 2009.

Since we have been spoiled with what looks to be a great movie. The executives over at Paramount must have figured why not give out some great posters.

With 2 months to go before this film comes out we have been teased once again with the poster images below.
