Just because Tobey Maguire is hanging up his Spidey suit doesn’t mean Sony Pictures is through with the franchise. Following in the current Hollywood trend, Sony is preparing a Spider-Man reboot for 2012.

Apparently two versions of Spider-Man were in the works simultaneously. The call to focus on the reboot came when director Sam Raimi failed to come to terms with a script for Spider-Man IV’s summer 2011 release date.

Sony’s contingency plan for the franchise puts Peter Parker back in high school, allowing for more films than Maguire, age 35, could offer. In this new version, Parker will get his abilities while tackling puberty.

Fans have been waiting three years for Spider-Man IV, but does this really count? Will Peter Parker be better this time around, or are you going to miss Maguire? What are your thoughts?

Today, both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are reporting that Paramount’s latest comic book adaption, Thor, has been moved from May 20th to May 6th. This is an obvious attempt to place Thor as the “big opener” of  Summer 2011.  With nothing left to fill the May 20th slot, Disney has stepped up and made it the home for the release of Pirate of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The question that some folks actually care about (myself NOT included) is where does Spider-Man 4 fall?  You can bet your last dollar that Spider-Man 4 is looking to open the summer.  Later in the summer we have to sit through yet another disgrace of a movie in Transformers 3 (let the flaming begin!).

So what does this mean for Spidey? Spider-Man 4 is still announced as having a May 6th release date and could lead to an all-out brawl for this date. In my opinion it’s great for the movies themselves to fight for a release date. Why not see who would do better.  Would Marvel allow this to happen? Would Thor win out over our famous web-slinger?

24 production stops due to a horrible script. What else could you expect from a show that once ruled the planet only to vomit into our living rooms once a week. 24 sucks and will continue to suck from now until they get it!

There seems to be quite a Religious uprising going on in Hollywood. It seems Bill Maher and his antics are really making some folks mad. See the link above for a video of it.

Nick Cage and his ever receding hairline is NOT dangerous at all. Bangkok Dangerous is a flop to say the least. Are you surprised?

Max Payne received an R for the ever changing MPAA and boy is John Moore pissed off. It seems the movies that need the R or NC-17 don’t get it and the ones that don’t do. MPAA is screwed up in the head if you ask me.

The worst movie of all time just got a cast and crew for its 4th and 5th installment. Check out the Spiderman 4 and 5 news over at FSR. Spiderman 3 was so bad, I don;t think I wathced more than 30 minutes of it.

Iron Man DVD clips galore. What more can a man ask for besides grainey clips from YouTube?
