The storyline is one we have seen before but the way in which it was written came together in a very easy way. A newspaper head dies, his/her son takes over the empire, finds out some missing information, corrupt cops and the like. But we have no dull moments, nothing too in your face, just the right amount of action and comedy thrown in.

Christoph Waltz gives us another performance worthy of an award. No not really, but he plays a villain that makes me cringe with dumb chills. An aging villain who we see having a mid life crisis and having ti reinvent himself. Kato is a great sidekick and possibly rank’s up there with John from Chips! Britt himself is a mystery that we don’t dive into too much besides his part boy exterior breaking down into a bad ass journalist of sorts.

This movie is a must see in my opinion for the shear joy factor alone.

Blu-ray will be sitting on my shelf for sure and I can only hope that the re-watch value is one of great fun!

“I want to go to there” to quote the great Liz Lemon that’s exactly how I feel after watching the trailer for Michel Gondry’s blockbuster. I don’t want to run this point through the ground but Michel Gondry (director of such art house classics as Human Nature, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind Rewind) doesn’t make blockbusters and after watching this trailer you can’t help but feel like you’re seeing a bizarro Iron Man (directed by regular Jon Favreau). I hope that this film just proves how great a director Gondry really is, able to give us beautiful artsy films as well as this mainstream production, a much more difficult task than one might think. Then there’s our star Seth Rogen, who looks very comfortable in this role (which I found surprising) even delivering a very Seth Rogen line such as “I want you to take my hand. I want you to come with me on this adventure.” which could have come from any Seth Rogen film to date (Pineapple Exress, Knocked Up, Observe and Report). We don’t see enough of Christoph Waltz’ character and we probably see all we need to see of Cameron Diaz who looks like she’s impersonating Gwyneth Paltrow from the Iron Man series… oh well, you can’t have it all. Anyway, I cannot wait to see The Green Hornet when it’s released in theaters January 14, 2011! Enjoy the trailer-

All my worries concerning how Christoph Waltz would follow up his stunning performance as Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds were laid to rest when I was informed that the actor had been cast in The Green Hornet.

Waltz is set to play the villain Chudnofsky in Michel Gondry’s superhero flick, opposite Seth Rogen as the titular hero. The role was originally slated to be played by Nicolas Cage before he avoided ruining the film by dropping out before signing.

With Waltz on board, I’m about a thousand times more excited to see the picture.

It’s due for release in December of next year.

Nicolas Cage became another casualty in the never ending string of problems for Sony Pictures feature The Green Hornet. After negotiations with the star’s contract came to a standstill, the actor dropped out of the cast. Cage was signed on originally to play the villain Mr. X in the Michael Gondry directed film. Now that Cage is out of the picture literally, and for this to happen during the start of filming as shown here, the never ending slew of problems continues to plague this project.

Starring Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Jay Chou, The Green Hornet is set to be released in theaters alongside Tron Legacy on December 17, 2010. Being pushed back several times, Sony will have to scramble quickly to find a replacement unless they want their crime fighting hero to feel the sting of defeat when all he has to fight right now is air.

Finally we get our first slew of pictures of the Michael Gondry directed feature The Green Hornet. Starring Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou and Nicolas Cage, filming is greatly underway. A little bit of Seth Rogen or some Jeff Bridges? The Black Beauty or the Light Cycle? That is what audiences will have to decide come December 17th 2010 when “The Green Hornet” and “Tron Legacy” come out in theaters. Walt Disney Pictures moved the release date today for the holiday season, which is a typical move from the studio. The Green Hornet has taken the bump several times, hopefully settling on a solid release date that will bring the two into heated competition.

The Michael Gondry directed feature of the hit 1960s television show has been thrown around for quite awhile. One release date change after another, changing actors, this film already shares some downs. With Walt Disney Pictures and their movie, it has already generated buzz due to heavy marketing taking place during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Even though both films strut their stuff and pleased the public to an extent, it can go either way come December of 2010.

Taiwanese actor-singer and all-around-good-looking chap, Jay Chou, has been cast as Kato, Green Hornet’s sidekick in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the cult ’60s show The Green Hornet.

Chou replaces Stephen Chow who left production for reasons unknown but presumably sound. Chou, who is evidently a chart-topping artist at home, was seen in The Curse of the Golden Flower and Initial D.

“[Chou] is incredibly unique and charming and fights like a wild dog,” said Hornet director Michel Gondry.

Chou steps into a role made famous by legendary martial artist Bruce Lee.

The Green Hornet has been plagued with trouble since pre-production when Chow backed away from directing duties. The Kung Fu Hustle director intended to stay on as Kato but ultimately decided to leave for what is believed to be “irreconcilable differences.”

Cameron Diaz and Nicolas Cage have recently been added to the growing cast.

You can check out Chou and his kicks in the flaccid Hong Kong actioner Dunk, which Variety said “lacks the nonsense humor and cartoon action of hits like Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer, Chou is attempting to fill in as Hong Kong’s latest action star.”

I am not just Kato, I am..anybody now!

Stephen Chow, who originally was going to direct The Green Hornet and ended up just being Kato in the updated film version of the television show, has abandoned ship. What has been described by the studios as simply “mutual and amicable decision by both sides to move on”, it looks like there’s been some trouble with having Chow on the film to begin with.

The feature version of this hit late 1960s television series stars Seth Rogen as the debonair Britt Reid, Cameron Diaz as the female lead/most likely love interest and now nobody at all as his sidekick of sorts, Kato. Still unmoved for its July 2010 release date, and for initial filming to begin within September, Columbia Pictures will have to scramble to get themselves another badass martial artist actor of sorts to slide into the role. In this reporter’s opinion, it’s better for this to happen a couple of months before filming commences rather than a couple of weeks beforehand.
