Have you seen Toy Story 3 yet? I haven’t and am dying to! My nephew, dressed in his Buzz Lightyear costume, saw it yesterday and loved it! Apparently he’s not the only one as you’ve rated it 99% fresh over at Rotten Tomatoes. In one of the funnest “What Ifs” what if Walt Disney had produced a Toy Story in the early days of Disney? Below is a Silly Symphony from 1935 entitled Broken Toys that answers that question. I have to admit that I am a huge fan of the Silly Symphony series and think they are as important to the Disney that we know and love today as Snow White or Sleeping Beauty! What do you think? Starting out, you are hearing from a man that has only recently seen Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Even though I have only recently seen them, when they came back to the theaters in 3d, I have fell in love with them along with my four year old daughter. We watch them quite frequently to say the least.

The newest creation from the folks at Pixar is a great piece of art, storytelling and ends up being my favorite movie of the year thus far!

The story is a truly great revival of the characters we all know and love. Woody, Buzz, Jesse and the rest of the rag tag team. This time around we are following the toys off to “sunnyside daycare” where we meet some great characters voiced by some even better actors. Michael Keaton and Ned Beatty bring to life Ken and Lotso Huggins respectively.

The animation and storyline are we we have come to expect from anything Pixar puts out. The overall feel of the film is a modern day Toy Story with jokes and story-lines for all ages.

My 4 year old daughter was amazed by the film even in the not needed IMAX 3d format we got to see it in. Even though it was not needed the effects of the 3d were very minimal. It could of been the isle seat or maybe this was another one of the post production 3d movies. Either way the movie would hold on it’s own, and strong, without the use of this ever popular technology.

Make sure you bring your kids to this film as this is one for your kids and even your big kids alike. The film is a great triumph to the team of toys that only want Andy to be happy. The last 30 minutes of this film is brilliant and only adds to the overall feel of the film. THIS IS A MUST SEE film!

This will be something that is added to lots of DVD and Blu-Ray collections.

Toy Story 3 is not set to be released until June 18, but word-of-mouth is already building up for the upcoming Pixar sequel. Earlier this month, a work-in-progress version of the film was shown at ShoWest and was met with strong feedback. I did not see it, but I’ve heard only great things about it.

Now, Pixar announced that a “Special Edition Cliffhanger” version of the film will tour college campuses in the coming month. Students at over 60 schools around the country will be treated to the first 65 minutes of the movie for FREE. All you need to do is sign up at Pixar’s Facebook page and show up with a valid college ID.

University of Maryland students will be able to see the film at 7:30 PM on April 28.

This is a fantastic marketing campaign, but I doubt many studios will follow in Pixar’s footsteps.

Having a case of the winter blues?  Here’s a sure-fire cure. Dinsey has has just debuted the full length trailer for Pixar’s Toy Story 3, which hits theaters this June 18th. It’s been over ten years since the last entry but this one looks to be as much fun as any of the others.

This third and final trailer gives us a closer look at the story and, best of all, the new toys that the gang meets when they find themselves donated to a daycare. Heading up this new menagerie (look closely for the stuffed Totorro in the background) are Lots-o’-huggin’ Bear, voiced by the great Ned Beatty (Deliverance) and Ken Doll, whose metrosexual accessorizing meets conspiratorial plotting when Woody and co. drop into his turf. In another terrific casting turn, Michael Keaton supplies Ken’s voice.

Pixar has yet to deliver a bad product, and with their crown jewel franchise, I wouldn’t expect them to start now. Toy Story 2 still stands as my personal favorite of the Pixar movies (although Wall-E might be an overall better film). In the years since that feature, the fx have improved, and the creative team have grown as storytellers.

All of this adds up to a heaping toy chest of promise. Don’t believe me? Just check out the trailer for yourself:

We’re going to get the Blu-rays of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 at the end of March and I must say I am excited. Yes for myself along with my 3 year old daughter who adores them. With a new trailer released today and Pixar Talk reporting that they’ll be released on March 23rd, what more could a 3 year old want from the blu-ray folks. While special features are something new to the blu-ray discs, I am just excited to see the transfer itself from DVD.

This does actually come at a great time for the folks out there that haven’t seen these movies. Such great classics followed up by the upcoming summer release of Toy Story 3. Check out our Toy Story 3 page for more info and trailers to come!

Now I do want to say that while there is a new trailer supposedly in blu-ray quality, youtube does this no justice of what it could be. Check out the newly released trailer, in blu, for your viewing pleasure below.

I’ve made the statement before that I think the whole 3D bit is starting to be overdone. However, I have to say that, if any movie would fit 3D well, it’d be Toy Story. Well, when Toy Story 3 opens in June, it won’t just be in regular theaters– it’ll also be opening in Imax 3D.

According to Imax CEO Richard L. Gelfond, “We have always envisioned the ‘Toy Story’ franchise as an ideal fit for The Imax Experience and we’re very happy to finally turn that vision into a reality.”

Toy Story 3 isn’t the only Imax treat moviegoers in 2010 will be able to enjoy.

Just last week, Summit Entertainment announce that Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight series, will open in Imax. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Warner Bros’ Inception, and Dreamworks Animation/Paramount’s How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek Forever After will all be seeing time in Imax as well.

Aside from seeing Toy Story 3 as a perfect film for Imax, Gelfond took the other Imax releases into consideration, saying of Toy Story 3 that, “This film also fits nicely into our 2010 lineup.”

Toy Story 3 opens June 18th.

Adding to the anticipation for the third Toy Story film, the second teaser trailer has made its way to the internet.

The trailer shows all our favorite toys back in action–sort of. Andy has gotten older, and his toys have been stowed away and fallen into disuse.

Toy Story 3 sees Andy heading off to college, and consequently getting rid of his beloved playthings.

The toys are given away, but not liking their new home, they scheme up a plan to escape.

While the trailer has much of the same adventurous, funny vibe as its predecessors, it also hints that the film may have a more serious tone than the first two movies.

With Andy grown up and no longer wanting his toys, and the toys themselves feeling antiquated in comparison to brand new toys, Toy Story 3 is dealing with a heavier subject–aging–than the previous two films.

Even with that, I’m sure Pixar will handle the subject well, having proved as far back as Finding Nemo, and as recently as this summer’s hit Up, that they can easily tackle more serious and emotional content.

I, for one, am definitely looking forward to the release of Toy Story 3.

After the success the 3D double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 has garnered over its originally planned two-week run, Pixar has announced that the showing will continue for at least another two weeks.

Given how well-received the first two Toy Story films were upon their original releases, and continue to be during their re-release run, it can be anticipated that the upcoming Toy Story 3 will be met with the same positive response. Along with keeping most of the characters we all know and love from the first and second Toy Story films, the cast of Toy Story 3 will be expanded to include some new characters and new voice talents.

In addition to Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising their roles as Woody and Buzz, Toy Story 3 will also be making room in the cast for Kristen Schaal of Flight of the Conchords and Blake Clark of 50 First Dates.

While it has not yet been revealed what Schaal’s character will be, director Lee Unkrich has made it known that Clark will be voicing the role of Slinky, taking over for Jim Varney who passed away after Toy Story 2.

Other members of the impressive cast for Toy Story 3 include Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, John Ratzenberger, Bonnie Hunt and Whoopi Goldberg.
