Love or hate Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, you have to admit that the movie will undoubtedly sell like gangbusters when it’s released on DVD and Bluray on October 20th. Did everyone decide to all go to the movie theaters yesterday or what? Out of personal experience with the movie-going crowd yesterday, it felt like it was the 4th of July and everyone was flocking to the theaters to see the latest and greatest. What took place was another box office record, this time set by Michael Bay’s Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Taking in a whopping 60.6 million, this robotic behemoth is here to stay for awhile (or until Public Enemies is released).

What perplexes me even more is the huge wave of negative feedback from critics and audiences alike for the most part on the action adventure film. Ranging from Rolling Stone’s no-star rating to the huge onslaught of what-the-hell’s about Skids and Mudflap’s racial stereotyped characters, Bay’s film has been getting more of a tongue lashing than Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf).

Now it makes you really sit and wonder where this crowd was for a fair number of other films. The people behind Terminator: Salvation and Watchmen (Warner Bros. basically) would have killed to get these kind of box office numbers right off the bat, but instead ended up with two underperforming films. Then again, you can argue the fact that it is the summer so everyone is a lot more available to make the trip to the movie theater to check out the newest summer blockbuster, which Transformers 2 has definitely cemented itself out to be.

What are your thoughts on it? Did you think that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen deserves the ridiculously high amount of success it’s already achieved within the span of a day? Decades from now, people will ask you where you were on June 24th? What’s so special about June 24th? It’s the release of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, that’s what. While you’re busy marking off days on your calendar until this momentous day, why don’t you kick back and watch some clips from the movie. Some have Megan Fox in them too. Others have Shia LaBeouf. All are cool.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen stars LaBeouf, Fox, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and according to IMDB, America Olivo will play “Frisbee Girl.” I hope DreamWorks realizes the danger if that flying disc is not a Frisbee.

Also note that Hugo Weaving continues his geek parade by returning as the voice of Megatron. What’s not to love?

For anyone who missed the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday May 31, 2009, they showed a clip from the (soon to be) summer blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Now, I know there are many teasers, trailers, and clips floating around that it seems like we’ve seen half of the film already, but what’s one more, right? In this 1 minute 45 seconds, we see what will be the make up of the entire film: LaBeouf and Fox running and hiding from Transformers that are are blowing up everything in sight. This clip will help hold us over until the film hits theaters June 26, 2009.

Paramount Pictures has released an official list of RSVP e-mails for the 20 city Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer premiere which is taking place on April 29th in THEATERS. Yes I said in theaters, the trailer is being shown to folks who go to the special premiere of Transformers. Michael Bay has posted the full ShoWest presentation that he put together for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, featuring a full 2-minute scene of Bumblebee crying and our first look at the ever large, ever pimpin Devastator!

While I was not to impressed with the first film, due in large to the fact you couldn’t make out what was what on the Transformers, this looks much cleaner. The action looks to be insane in only the Bay style could pull off.

As Michael Bay explains: “I just wanted the fans to get a taste of what we have been making for a year and a half because we have been so quiet. The piece was cut about a month ago for this ShoWest thing I accepted this past month – so as you can see many of the shots were far from being finished renders.”

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is directed by the ever high on imself, Michael Bay. The story and screenplay for the sequel was written by Transformers writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Paramount brings us Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in IMAX theaters on June 24th!

Transformers 3 talk already?

Paramount and Dream Works have gone ahead and announced Transformers 3 will have a release date of July 11, 2011. This is the first anyone is hearing of a sequel when the sequel of the first one isn’t even out yet. Paramount insiders have downplayed the importance of the movie. The studio apparently wanted to pick a date before the rivals did due to the summer of 2011 already slated for some very big releases. No deals have been made with director Michael Bay, or the stars of the series Shia Lebouf or Megan Fox, and no writer is attached to the project. Summer 2011 will see the fourth Spider- Man film in May, Thor, and Captain America.

Are Paramount and Dream Works thinking too far ahead? Transformers 2 has not even hit the silver screen yet and already there is talk of a third. It isn’t like the film is slated to make “Dark Knight” dollars which would be one thing. Many other planned sequels ended up never happening (Batman: Triumphant was a planned sequel to the Trail of Tears of film called Batman & Robin and Billy Zane was signed on for two more Phantom movies before the first one bombed). Paramount and Dream Works should not think so far ahead and focus on the movie coming out this year Transformers 2 and market it then make plans for 3.
