The Crazies Trailer

300px-The_Crazies_posterHot off the heels of the poster released earlier this week for Breck Eisner’s remake of George A. Romero’s The Crazies comes a trailer hinting that the film may actually be quite good.

Nothing is too innovative in the trailer, which showcases performances by Timothy Olyphant (Live Free or Die Hard) and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill), but it does have a few things going for it. First is a pretty effective use of “Mad World,” the song made famous by Donnie Darko.

Second, Eisner’s film, scripted by The Amityville Horror’s Scott Kosar, looks to be straying far enough away from the content of Romero’s original film while maintaining the claustrophobic feel that made it so unique. The tone here seems well-done, just as Amityville Horror was, despite being a lesser entry in Platinum Dunes’ catalog.

Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments! The Crazies will be unleashed February 26, 2010.
